New books show why Trump right about pause on Muslim immigration

Consider some of the violent attacks committed on U.S. soil over the past few years:

• The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
• The July 2015 shootings at a pair of military installations in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
• The November 2015 stabbing attack at the University of California, Merced.
• The December 2015 shooting at a San Bernardino Christmas party.
• The machete attack at a Mediterranean restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, in February.
• The September stabbing attack at a mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota. 
• The bombings in the New York-New Jersey area that same weekend.
• And now, just one week ago, the intentional car crash and stabbing spree at Ohio State University.

What did all of those attacks have in common? The perpetrators were all Muslims, and they were all either refugees or asylum seekers or the children of refugees or asylum seekers, notes veteran WND journalist Leo Hohmann.

“This is a problem we don’t want to talk about in this country, Jesse!” Hohmann told radio host Jesse Lee Peterson in a recent interview. “Nobody is reporting it in context. The stories today that you read about the Ohio State attack, it’s as if it was an isolated incident. They don’t report it in context. They don’t bring up all these other attacks by refugees and asylum seekers and their children.”

Hohmann, however, does want to talk about the Muslim refugee problem and report it in context. That is exactly what he does in his brand new book, “Stealth Invasion: Muslim Conquest Through Immigration and Resettlement Jihad.”

“Donald Trump alluded to this problem during his campaign when he said we needed to temporarily halt all Muslim immigration into this country until we can ‘figure out what the hell is going on,’” Hohmann recalled. 

“That was a famous quote from him. Now [my] book, Mr. Trump, if he would read it, would explain exactly what the hell is going on.”

The numbers Hohmann has reported are staggering. Since 1983, the U.S. has taken in more than 132,000 refugees from Somalia alone. Ninety-nine percent of those refugees are Muslims, just as Somalia’s population is 99 percent Muslim, predominantly Sunni. The East African nation is consistently wracked by Sunni jihad terrorism and wars between Shariah-compliant tribal clans.

And 1.2 percent of Somalia’s population of 10.6 million has been resettled in the United States.

Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the Ohio State attacker, was a Somali Muslim refugee, although he and his family fled to Pakistan first before coming to America. 

Many have called for more thorough vetting of refugees, but Conservative Review senior editor Daniel Horowitz pointed out better vetting would not have done anything to prevent Artan’s attack. 

For one thing, Artan was a teenager when he entered America with his family, and he had not yet shown any signs that he would one day commit an act of terror.

In fact, Horowitz said the OSU attack should show it’s impossible to truly vet the children of immigrants but possible to know whether they are likely to assimilate into American culture.

“They don’t have an al-Qaida or ISIS card that demonstrates they’re affiliated with some known terror group,” Horowitz told WND. “You’re not going to see that. 

There’s nothing to vet, but their families adhere to Shariah, and when they come here there is no way of knowing how many will ultimately be drawn into terrorism, but we do know with certitude that a large percentage don’t respect our Constitution.

“That alone should disqualify anyone from becoming a refugee or coming in on any other immigrant visa,” he said.

Horowitz, author of “Stolen Sovereignty: How to Stop Unelected Judges From Transforming America,” believes America today faces a different problem than it faced in the 9/11 era. Back then, the problem was that the country had let in known terrorists, but today the problem is importing large numbers of people who share a mentality that shuns assimilation and has the potential to produce homegrown terrorists. Horowitz noted there is no way to vet this new problem on the front end – unless the U.S. plans to keep out everyone who adheres to Shariah law.

Horowitz thinks that’s not such a bad idea.

“We shouldn’t bring in anyone from anywhere, whether it’s Islamic countries or non-Islamic countries, that don’t share our values,” he stated, noting that the American Founding Fathers believed the U.S. should bring in only foreigners who would be productive citizens and “love our republican values.”

“There certainly are people like that out there,” Horowitz said. 

“Why in the world would we bring in people that, to begin with, are predisposed to dislike us? Even if they ultimately don’t engage in terrorism, it fundamentally makes no sense.”

Horowitz believes ending the importation of Somali refugees would be a great place to start. Somalia is home to the al-Qaida affiliate al-Shabab, and there has been a major terrorism-recruiting effort among the Somali community of Minneapolis.

“We’ve brought in so many, and this is 23 years after their country collapsed,” Horowitz said. “I mean, are we going to indefinitely bring in Somalis for the rest of our history? 

We’ve never afforded any other nation, even countries where there is no risk of terrorism, we’ve never afforded them such a long period of refuge.”

Horowitz believes the OSU attack provides the perfect example of why Congress and the incoming president must seize control of the refugee program from the U.N. and the refugee contractors.

“It’s something for which, if it had to come affirmatively to a vote in Congress, it would be resoundingly defeated. 

But, unfortunately, it’s on autopilot, and the president can just unilaterally do what he wants to get over the State Department,” he explained. “This is where Donald Trump’s opportunity comes into play where, on Day One, he could utilize this broad discretion to just completely shut it down.

“If there’s any country that’s become an existential threat for importing terrorism, it’s Somalia, and that should be the first on the list we should shut down.”
