If you're like the team here at FRC Action PAC, you're glad to see the Election season finally wind down. The roller coaster that the nation's voters have been on for the past year and a half is coming to a close, and now we move to the next stage: public policy. In the thousands of federal, state, and local races on the ballot, who got elected? And more importantly, how will they address issues like Obamacare, the size and scope of government, sanctity of life, religious liberty, nomination of Supreme Court Justices, and more? FRC Action PAC exists to help elect candidates who will stand strong for faith, family, and freedom as elected officials. This year we supported 159 candidates across the country and are excited that 92% won. We want to thank you for your support. We couldn't have done it without people like you. One of the most critical goals of this election was to make sure conservatives have control of the Senate in 2017. Not only does the Senate have a huge impact on policy in general, the Supreme Court Justices that President-elect Trump nominates will have to be confirmed by this chamber. There were 34 Senate races up for election yesterday, and Republicans where defending 24 of them. Many political experts predicted that Democrats would take control of the Senate, which is currently controlled by the GOP (with 54 seats out of 100). One key race that we invested in was that of Sen. Roy Blunt in Missouri. Sen. Blunt received a 100% "True Blue" rating on our annual scorecard and has been a great advocate for the sanctity of life and other important issues. Our super PAC, the Faith Family Freedom Fund, targeted this race with a powerful ad on the Hyde Amendmentwhich received over 1 million views on social media. We also aired radio ads advocating for Sen. Blunt on Christian radio across the state, and the FRC Action Values Bus made numerous stops here. It was one of the last races called last night, but Sen. Blunt pulled through, winning 49% to 46%. The GOP has lost only two seats overall. It will retain control of the Senate and is expected to have 52 seats. Members of Congress who have received a 100% True Blue rating on our scorecardhave made important votes defending important issues. Of our supported True Blue candidates, 98% won re-election. It was good to see solid conservative candidates like Claudia Tenney in New York's 22nd Congressional win. Two years ago we backed her as she challenged liberal Republican incumbent Richard Hanna (who has received money from abortion-giant Planned Parenthood's PAC and won an award from them). She narrowly lost that year. She ran again this year and we supported her early. When she entered the race, Rep. Hanna dropped out of the primary. She won yesterday's general election contest 47% to 40%. FRC Action PAC was also glad to see Don Bacon win election in Nebraska's 2ndCongressional. Don has staked out some strong conservative positions and we were pleased to endorse and support him. Our Values Bus also made a stop in his district. While the GOP lost a few seats overall in the House of Representatives, Don bested a liberal Democrat incumbent and won this seat, 49% to 47%. We were also involved in a number of state races this year. One of which was Josh Hawley's, Attorney General candidate in the state of Missouri. Josh had never run for office before but had an impressive resume which included arguing before the Supreme Court. He has gone before the Court and won twice, advocating for important religious liberty issues. He won the race yesterday 58% to 41%. FRC Action PAC is excited to see strong conservative leaders elected who will stand for truth in public office. We will continue to stay in touch with them, educating and equipping them on important issues and helping to hold them accountable as they carry out the position they have been entrusted with and represent the American people. FRC Action PAC and the Faith Family Freedom Fund are funded entirely by the generous support of individuals like you. We are thankful for your partnership in this effort and want to express our gratitude for your generous support. There is much yet to do, but your support is making a difference! Sincerely, FRC Action PAC |
