A Virginia school-board member who launched into a foul-mouthed diatribe against Donald Trump on social media following his election has quit her position following public backlash.
Jenny Poore of the Lynchburg City School Board held nothing back in her online criticism of Trump and the current state of America, saying on her Facebook page, “f— you and your sh—y straight white man version of America.”
Poore continued: “We are a country obsessed with out d–k size and our gun count and we share go fund me pages of sick children like we give a sh– while at the same screaming that OBAMACARE SUCKS even though Obamacare is the only reason that kid will ever be able to have insurance to pay for his doctors.”
“We are a nation of selfish, fearful morons who thinks we can still be friends with people and like pictures of their dogs and kids on facebook even though we just voted gut every last protection they had as human beings. ‘i don’t see why we can’t still be friends … i luv y’all …’ says the idiot who just made sure your daughters would-be rapists feel even braver now.”
“The country I thought was mine was a mirage. The collective promise of decency and hope is not for me, it’s not for women, or people of color, or LGBTQ people, or the mentally ill, or the disabled, or the people on the edge.”

In her conclusion, Poore said public opposition to Trump would increase and fight against all that Trump represents.
“We will weather this storm because that’s what we do, that’s what we have always done, this is your last hurrah, boys. Tomorrow there will be more of us.”
Poore’s resignation letter to the school board cited “personal reasons” for her departure, “not the least of which is my conviction that right now my voice and skill set can best be put to use in other avenues.”

She elaborated on her actions when contacted by her local newspaper, the Lynchburg News & Advance.
“I was very vocal after the election. However, I have always been very vocal. It seemed like after this election there was new scrutiny on people voicing dissent. I didn’t want that to blow back on the board and our schools. That blowback needed to be for me alone,” Poore wrote.
When the paper asked her, in hindsight, if she should have handled the situation differently, Poore replied:
“I’ve thought about that a lot. I am who I am. I have never been any different. Those who know me know this is pretty much what you get, an outspoken and sometimes loud liberal who advocates, for better or worse, for those who for whatever reason can’t.”
She said had she known her Facebook post would go public, she would have given more thought to her obscene language, but added her conscience compelled her to act.
Now that she’s no longer on the school board, Poore is spearheading a GoFundMe effort called Period Pantry Lynchburg, as she looks to help female students in middle and high schools purchase tampons and pads.
Says Poore: “My goal with this fundraiser is to raise money to purchase tampons and pads in various sizes to donate to our two high schools and three middle schools so that they will be available to whomever needs them so that every young woman can feel clean and comfortable and ready to take on the day regardless of her personal situation.”
