The blood that Jesus shed for me will never lose its power.
Hebrews 12 says that the blood of Jesus Christ “speaks better things than that of Abel” (Hebrews 12:24). What better things? Abel was murdered by his brother, Cain. What did his blood say…and what does the blood of Jesus Christ say? “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand” (Genesis 4:10–11). Abel’s blood cried out death and murder, and called for revenge.
The blood of Christ also discolored the dust. But what better words does it say? It speaks life, not death! Abel’s blood is death-blood, but the blood of Jesus is life-blood. Abel’s blood called for revenge, but the blood of Jesus speaks forgiveness.
