'DEVASTATING BOMBSHELLS' IN NEW HILLARY EMAILS
Rush Limbaugh: 'It's an intricately woven web of deceit'
Another batch of previously undisclosed emails involving Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state has been released, and they reveal multiple orders from the private Clinton Foundation to Hillary Clinton’s aides at the State Department.
Meanwhile, CNN reported the FBI asked the Justice Department to open a case into the Clinton Foundation earlier this year, but the department’s public integrity unit declined. One year prior to the request, the Justice Department had decided not to open a case into the foundation, claiming it lacked sufficient evidence.
One of the emails in the new cache, obtained by the Washington watchdog Judicial Watch, was an instruction for federal officials to find a job for an interested party, whose name was redacted. Another was for government officials to have someone contact a major Clinton Foundation donor personally.
“No wonder Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin hid emails from the American people, the courts and Congress,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “They show the Clinton Foundation, Clinton donors and operatives worked with Hillary Clinton in potential violation of the law.”
Radio host Rush Limbaugh said “there are bombshells in the emails.”
“These are the emails the FBI said they couldn’t find. … They’re just devastating,” he said.
“It’s an intricately woven web of deceit,” Limbaugh continued. “Clinton lied about it. She said these emails didn’t exist. There was nothing worth seeing. She threw them out.”
GOP nominee Donald Trump’s campaign said Wednesday the “newest email scandal exposes pay-for-play connections.”
“That the Clinton Foundation was calling in favors barely three months into Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department is deeply troubling and it is yet another reminder of the conflicts of interest and unethical wheeling and dealing she’d bring to the White House,” said Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Short in a statement.
“She views public office as nothing more than a means to personal enrichment – and every dollar she takes comes at the expense of the public welfare,” Stephen Miller, the national policy director for Trump’s campaign, said in a statement Tuesday evening.
“This latest finding is an unseemly, disturbing window into a corrupt office, and yet more evidence that Hillary Clinton has been lying from the beginning – and by any reasonable definition attempted to obstruct the investigation of the FBI.”
Judicial Watch this week released 296 pages of U.S. State Department records that include 44 email exchanges “not previously turned over to the State Department, bringing the known total to date to 171 of new Clinton emails (not part of the 55,000 pages of emails that Clinton turned over to the State Department),” the report said.
“These records further appear to contradict statements by Clinton that, ‘as far as she knew,’ all of her government emails were turned over to the State Department,” Judicial Watch said.
In one case, the emails reveal Clinton Foundation official Doug Band in 2009 “pushed for a job for an associate.”
“In the email Band tells Hillary Clinton’s former aides at the State Department Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin that it is ‘important to take care of [Redacted].’ Band is reassured by Abedin that ‘Personnel has been sending him options.’ Band was co-founder of Teneo Strategy with Bill Clinton and a top official of the Clinton Foundation, including its Clinton Global Initiative.”
In another case, Band “directs” Abedin and Mills to put “Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire and Clinton Foundation donor Gilbert Chagoury in touch with the State Department’s ‘substance person’ on Lebanon.’
“Band notes that Chagoury is ‘key guy there [Lebanon] and to us,’ and insists that Abedin call Amb. Jeffrey Feltman to connect him to Chagoury.”
Judicial Watch explained Chagoury is a friend of Bill Clinton and top donor to the family foundation.
Band began writing in the exchange: “We need to speak to the substance person re Lebanon. As you know, he’s [Chagoury] key guy there and to us and is loved in lebanon.”
“Its jeff feltman,” Abedin wrote back, referring to America’s former ambassador to Lebanon who went on to become assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs in August 2009.
“I’m sure he knows him. Ill talk to jeff,” said Abedin.
Less than 20 minutes later, Band replied: “Better if you call him. Now preferable. This is very important. He’s awake I’m sure.”
Judicial Watch said: “He has appeared near the top of the foundation’s donor list as a $1 million to $5 million contributor, according to foundation documents. He also pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative. According to a 2010 investigation by PBS Frontline, Chagoury was convicted in 2000 in Switzerland for laundering money from Nigeria, but agreed to a plea deal and repaid $66 million to the Nigerian government.”
But the watchdog organization pointed out that the interaction – and even favors that seem to be evident – “seem in violation of the ethics agreements that Hillary Clinton agreed to in order to be appointed and confirmed as secretary of state.”
“For example, Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton on January 5, 2009, in a letter to State Department Designated Agency Ethics Official James H. Thessin: ‘For the duration of my appointment as secretary if I am confirmed, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving specific parties in which The William J. Clinton Foundation (or the Clinton Global Initiative) is a party or represents a party.'”
In yet another situation, the evidence shows as part of preparations for Hillary Clinton’s trip to China, “Stephen Roach, chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, on Feb. 11, 2009, sends Hillary a copy of his upcoming testimony before Congress in which he would condemn any U.S. efforts to criticize Chinese monetary policy or enact trade barriers,” the report said.
“Several days later, Hillary asked Abedin about Roach possibly ‘connecting’ with her while she was in Beijing: ‘I forwarded you my email to him about connecting in Beijing. Can he come to the embassy or other event?’ Morgan Stanley is a long-time financial supporter of the Clintons,” Judicial Watch said.
“The emails also reveal that Abedin left then-Secretary Clinton’s daily schedule, a presumably sensitive document, on a bed in an unlocked hotel room. An email on April 18, 2009, during a conference in Trinidad and Tobago, from aide Melissa J. Lan to Huma Abedin asks for the secretary’s ‘day book binders.’ Abedin replies: ‘Yes. It’s on the bed in my room. U can take it. My door is open. I’m in the lobby.Thx.'”
The documents were obtained under a court order in a May 5, 2015, Freedom of Information lawsuit against the State Department. It is requiring the federal agency to produce the emails to or from Abedin on a non-state email.
The New York Post bluntly described Clinton’s actions as putting “the State Department up for sale, with top aides pulling strings and doing favors for fat-cat donors to the Clinton Foundation – including a shady billionaire.”
The FBI investigated Clinton’s handling of her State Department emails and its director, James Comey, concluded she was “extremely careless.” Clinton later interpreted that to mean the FBI was affirming she was telling the truth about her emails.
But ramifications still are developing. Her mention, for example, of a Iranian nuclear scientist may have contributed to his execution.
Former federal prosecutor and New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he would have prosecuted Clinton for the way she mishandled classified information.
