Baltimore, Chicago, D.C. 'account for more than half'

A new study from the Brennan Center for Justice reveals the murder rate rose by more than 13 percent in the 25 biggest cities in America in 2015 – and the common denominator among the three cities that “account for more than half” this hike is they’re run by Democrats who impose hefty gun controls on the populace.

Baltimore, Chicago and Washington, D.C., three Democratic political fixtures, are responsible for more than half the 13.3 percent hike of gun-related murders seen in the nation’s largest cities last year, and the fault lies with local policy, rather than national influence, the Brennan Center said.

“These serious increases seem to be localized, rather than part of a national pandemic, suggesting that community conditions remain the major factor,” the Brennan Center found, Breitbart reported. “Notably, these three cities all seem to have falling populations, higher poverty rates and higher unemployment than the national average. This implies that economic deterioration of these cities could be a contributor to murder increases.”

The cities also share this political reality: they’ve been headed by Democratic Party leaders who tout strict gun control agendas for decades.

Baltimore, as Breitbart noted, has a ban on “assault weapons,” along with Chicago and Washington, D.C.

In 2015, Baltimore saw 344 homicides, the Baltimore Sun reported. In Chicago in 2015, it was 488, according to the Chicago Tribune. And in Washington, D.C., the murder rate for 2015 stood at 162, which represents a 54 percent hike over the 2014 rate, Breitbart reported, citing police statistics.
