PEDIATRICIANS' GROUP: 'GENDER IDEOLOGY HARMS CHILDREN'

Organization equates movement to 'child abuse'

The American College of Pediatricians has issued a statement entitled “Gender ideology harms children,” pressing educators and lawmakers alike to resist embracing the agenda that’s been advanced by the LGBT movement – that encouraging gender transitions among children is acceptable medical practice.

The organization said the trend toward gender transitioning is tantamount to “child abuse.”

It wrote: “The [ACP] urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex. Facts – not ideology – determine reality.”

The group then ran down a list of facts that have been confused or overlooked in the policy discussions on transgender issues.

First, “human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait” with the chromosomes “XY” and “XX” as “genetic markers of health, not genetic markers of a disorder,” the ACP stated.

“This principle is self-evident,” the group said.

Second: “No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept, not an objective biological one,” APC said.

And third, sure to be controversial among some in the LBGT rights crowd, the organization stated: “A person’s belief that he or she is something they are not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking.”

The pediatricians’ group goes on, saying such confusion is rooted in a “psychological problem” that is treatable.

“These children,” the group said, “suffer from gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria, formerly listed as Gender Identity Disorder, is a recognized mental disorder in the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association.”

The ACP also says “puberty-blocking hormones can be dangerous,” in that they can slow growth and fertility, and that according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual findings, “as many as 98 percent of gender confused boys and 88 percent of gender confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after passing through puberty.”

In other words: If adolescents are left alone to grow in the biological sex they were assigned at birth, most will accept that gender.

“Conditioning children into believing a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse,” the American College of Pediatricians concludes. “Endorsing gender discordance as normal via public education and legal policies will confuse children and parents, leading more children to present to ‘gender clinics’ where they will be given puberty-blocking drugs.”

“This, in turn, virtually ensures that they will ‘choose’ a lifetime of carcinogenic and otherwise toxic cross-sex hormones, and likely consider unnecessary surgical mutilation of their healthy body parts as young adults.”

High rates of suicide

One more finding: Those who take hormones to alter their biological sex are more at risk for suicide.

“Rates of suicide are twenty times greater among adults who use cross-sex hormones and undergo sex reassignment surgery, even in Sweden which is among the most LGBTQ-affirming countries,” the organization wrote. “What compassionate and reasonable person would condemn young children to this fate knowing that after puberty as many as 88 percent of girls and 98 percent of boys will eventually accept reality and achieve a state of mental and physical health?”

David Kupelian covers the transgender movement in his new book, “The Snapping of the American Mind,” and says the statement from the ACP represents a breakthrough for truth and integrity in science.

“It’s great when an organization of medical professionals dares to defy political correctness and boldly stands up for truth and common sense,” said Kupelian, who is vice president and managing editor of WND.

He said most of the medical associations in the U.S. have been infiltrated and taken over by the hard left.

“Far too many medical professional associations long ago caved in to the relentless pressure coming from the LGBT activist movement.”

“For one, the American Psychiatric Association, under enormous pressure, declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder in 1973, while its sister organization, the American Psychological Association, followed suit two years later,” he added.

Ironically, the former president of the American Psychological Association – the man who actually introduced the motion to declassify homosexuality as a mental illness in 1975 – is now sounding the alarm. Dr. Nicholas Cummings says the psychologists’ organization has become dominated by “ultraliberals” under the thumb of the gay rights movement.

Since the mid-1990s, warns Cummings, the group’s positions have become based on “political stances” that “seemed to override any scientific results,” adding, “Cherry-picking results became the mode.”

“The gay rights movement sort of captured the APA,” Cummings concluded.

My comments: Of Course Gender Ideology is Child abuse, it is Against God, Who is the Creator of each Child and their Gender. The Entire LGBT Movement is Against God and His Word.
