Exclusive: Linda Harvey ties together Roe v. Wade anniversary, new model of vessel

When we observe the grim anniversary this week of Roe v. Wade, and the 58 million deaths that followed, let’s never forget that rebirth and resurrection can follow horrific mistakes and tragedy.

Noah obeyed God, gathered his family and entered the ark. Then what?

It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. But his obedience marked the renewal of life on earth.

Obeying our Creator restores life, even if preceded by our sin and His wrath.

On Friday, Jan. 22, hundreds of thousands of pro-life supporters will gather in the nation’s capital to observe the sober anniversary of a legal human holocaust in America.

But another big event happens this week that is another expression of the same idea: being overcomers.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 19 for the opening next July of the Ark Encounter, a true-to-size replica of the ark of Genesis. It’s a project of Answers in Genesis (AIG), the founders of the Creation Museum. And reservations for tour times will be made for the first 40 days – and 40 nights.

A visit to the Ark Encounter may draw one closer to the Lord as a believer reconnects with the Genesis narrative in Scripture. The need for this firm foundation intensifies every day.

In a video at the Ark website, Ken Ham, president of AIG and the Ark Encounter, comments that while the cross is our greatest reminder of salvation, he believes Noah’s ark is salvation’s next most powerful symbol.

God saved a tiny remnant in the midst of a devastating judgment on a deeply depraved world, and right up to the closing of the door, unbelievers hurled insults, mocking and scoffing Noah and his obedience. And then the end came, with no escape for the wicked.

There’s a similar chasm forming in America, dividing not just Christians and unbelievers, but faithful and compromised Christians. Many leftists consider themselves Christians, but their “fruit” tells a different story.

As pro-life warriors stand in vigil in our nation’s capital and recall the abortion holocaust this week at the March for Life, we need to reconnect with God as Creator, while we remember that He is also our judge.

God wiped every human from the earth through a divinely ordained disaster, except for the faithful eight. Is abortion God’s judgment on America? Are we enacting, through “choice,” our own spiritual demise, our own “flood” of destruction? It’s a deeply troubling thought.

I love the organization Answers in Genesis because its message faithfully points back to our origins – to Genesis – and in that foundation, we are challenged to reject the deceit of the world and cling to the Lord and the cross.

Even to the ark.

After all, Jesus is not just our Savior. He is our Creator. This marvel is unveiled many places in the Bible (John 1, Colossians 1) and too often bypassed for exposition by today’s ministers and routinely ignored by the evangelical left, that Jesus was and is the great “I AM.”

Bringing this crucial quality of Christ to the forefront exposes the flaws of worldly narratives. Bowing before our Creator, Jesus, convicts those who may actually be very far from Him.

When pro-abortion advocates question the humanity of a child at conception, we only need to recall the just-conceived divine Christ hailed by Mary’s cousin Elizabeth as she was moved by the Holy Spirit. Christ did not come to earth as a 5-year-old, 15-year-old, or a 25-year-old, but in utero, at the same stage as unborn humans today, nearly one fourth of whom are aborted – and sometimes, those abortion-clinic patrons come from Christian backgrounds.

When we recognize Christ, the Creator, it changes everything. It changes us.

A recent guest on my radio show, Dr. Terry Mortenson from Answers in Genesis, discussed this crucial aspect of the nature of Christ and belief in the biblical account in Genesis. What happens when self-declared Christians believe the actual, literal account of Genesis?

Among many other results, Dr. Mortenson mentioned that people begin to notice the many creation miracles of Christ. In fact, Jesus’ first visible earthly miracle was to change water into wine. Only God could do that. Jesus also commanded storms to cease and used His power to heal the lame and raise the dead.

The creation power of Christ carries profound meaning that should humble every believer.

There is a theological heresy common today that separates Scripture into Old and New Testament for study, for guidance, and dismisses the Old Testament as irrelevant to Christians, revealing a different God, disconnected to the New Testament. But this erroneous belief vanishes when one considers that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13). He’s also the Everlasting Father, the Mighty God as well as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

The embrace of “gay” Christianity misunderstands the role of the Old Testament, conjuring a disordered image of Jesus. If He is our Creator, through whom all things were made (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16), can males easily dismiss their biology to have sexual contact with other males? Can women believe Jesus would ever have created them to unite with other women – however artificially that might happen – and to reject natural union with males (Romans 1:26-27)?

It’s Jesus the Creator who knits us together in our mothers’ wombs (Psalm 139). He’s the gentle sermonizer of the Beatitudes, the savior of the woman at the well and the woman caught in adultery.

And the powerful Lion of Judah.

Behold, Jesus is our Almighty God.

The Ark Encounter will feature a full-scale ark, a seaworthy vessel built according to the Bible’s description in Genesis, with berths for two of every animal. Only an awesome God and Savior could save Noah, his family and all the animals.

Only Jesus can save us in a world that’s destroying children. But He can and will if we turn to Him.
