SECRET SERVICE SOUGHT 'MEDIA HIT' ON GOP CONGRESSMAN

The Secret Service’s motto is: “Worthy of Trust and Confidence.” But it can now credibly change its motto to: “Worthy of Fear and Intimidation.”

A report released Wednesday by Homeland Security Department’s inspector general, John Roth, concluded the Secret Service attempted to intimidate and embarrass the Republican congressman charged with uncovering its fraud, waste and abuse.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, was targeted for retaliation because of his investigations into the agency.

“Some information that he might find embarrassing needs to get out. Just to be fair,” Secret Service Assistant Director Ed Lowery said in an email to another director on March 31, ABC News reported.

The document, gleaned from a restricted database, was seen by 45 employees after the congressman began looking into the agency’s scandals and shortcomings.

On April 2, 2015, an unsuccessful Secret Service job application submitted by Chaffetz in 2003 was leaked.
