TRUMP: 'ABSOLUTELY AN ASSAULT ON CHRISTIANITY'
'We're gonna reverse that trend big-league'
It’s not just illegal aliens and anchor babies who are on Donald Trump’s mind these days.
The Republican candidate for president says there’s “an assault on Christianity” both in America and abroad, and he’s blasting President Obama for doing nothing to help believers being decapitated by ISIS.
“They’re being beheaded in Syria! They’re being beheaded,” Trump exclaimed Friday on Alabama’s Yellowhammer Radio. “They’ve been abandoned by Obama and this whole group. They won’t be abandoned by Trump, believe me.”
“If you’re a Christian, it’s almost impossible to come into the United States from Syria,” the billionaire developer continued. “And yet the Muslims, it’s one of the easier places. Now you explain that to me. Absolutely there’s an assault on Christianity, and we’re gonna reverse that trend big-league.”

When asked what he thought it meant to be a Christian, Trump said, "I think somebody that believes very strongly in the Bible, believes in God."
"I'm Protestant," he added. "I'm Presbyterian to be exact. And I grew up in Sunday school, and I did all of the things that you probably did. And I believe very, very strongly. I'm a big believer in the Bible."
When it comes to church attendance, Trump admits he doesn't have a perfect record.
"I'm not sure numbers of times going to church," he explained. "I go as often as I can. As you can imagine, I have a schedule that's not like a normal person's schedule. My schedule is a killer. But I go as often as possible."

Trump said his minister was Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, author of "The Power of Positive Thinking," who died in 1993.
Trump called Peale "one of the greatest speakers I've ever heard, to this day. He was a person, when you went to church, you really felt badly when the session was over because you wanted it to go on longer."
The Republican candidate also noted, "I'm very friendly with Franklin Graham and Billy Graham, and I support a lot of Christian efforts, so [my faith is] very important to me."
When it comes to believers under fire here in America, Trump cited the "War on Christmas."
"There's an assault on anything having to do with Christianity," he explained. "They don't want to use the word Christmas anymore at department stores."
"There's always lawsuits and unfortunately a lot of those lawsuits are won by the other side," he noted. "I will assault that. I will go so strongly against so many of the things, when they take away the word Christmas."
"I go out of my way to use the word Christmas," he stressed.

"I've even had people that do this very professionally," Trump noted, "they say, 'Oh, don't mention the word Christmas.' I said, 'Like hell I'm not gonna mention it.' ... I get up there, I mention Christmas before I even start speaking. So, I mean, there's a great assault on Christianity in so many ways."
Trump's rhetoric is being openly applauded by some in Christendom.
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights says Trump is actually echoing many of the points the league has been making in recent years.
"We are pleased to see that Donald Trump is making the exact same argument and we hope to hear from the other presidential candidates on this important issue," Donohue said.
"This is fantastic news!" said the Political Insider blog. "We have a secular leftist in the White House now who refuses to acknowledge our Lord and Savior. Donald Trump doesn't care about political correctness, and has no patience for the Christmas-haters."
