STEVE FORBES: Erasing Hamilton From The $10 Bill Is Erasing Our History

The Treasury Department scheme to take the image of Alexander Hamilton off the ten dollar bill is outrageous. This is not a long-overdue move to honor one of the great women in our history–that can be done (and should be done) with the $20 bill. It is, rather, part of an ongoing campaign by the left to discredit the beliefs and values that make America unique. Hamilton is being targeted precisely because he is a powerful symbol. His persona rise and accomplishments show America to be a land of opportunity where regardless of background, one can have the chance to improve one’s lot in life, where the children of immigrants are as every bit American as those who have been here for generations. As an advocate for meritocracy and self-empowerment through private-sector enterprise, he is a threat to the statist agenda.[Photo: Tony Fischer] [More]
