VIDEO: Top Marine General Risked Entire Career to Reveal THIS About Barack Obama
When President Barack Obama was first running for the presidency, he made a number of campaign promises, one of which was to end the war in Iraq.
Eventually he did just that –sort of — by withdrawing all of our armed forces from the country, ignoring warnings from the military and Congress.
Of course, such a withdrawal left a power vacuum that the fledgling Iraqi government was unable to fill, ultimately allowing the Islamic State group to sweep through and seize vast swaths of territory for their Caliphate.
Many former members of the military have been speaking out against this for the past couple of years, but one active duty Marine general bucked tradition to level his criticism at the administration.
Last summer, Marine Gen. John Amos, then Commandant of the Marine Corps and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke out against Obama’s Iraq policy during a discussion at the Brookings Institute.
“I find it hard to believe, knowing how Iraq looked when we left in 2010,” the general said, “when the last U.S. forces left that we would be in the position we’re in today in Iraq.”
Amos said things would have turned out different in Iraq, “had we had the right forces, the right leadership, the right mentoring, the right government, courage … ”
The general went on to say that just because we declare a war to be over and done with doesn’t necessarily make it so, effectively blasting Obama’s Utopian foreign policy fantasy that we can all sit around a campfire and sing Kumbaya with our enemies.
“We may think we’re done with them, but they’re not done with us,” the general bluntly stated.
This is a remarkable situation, as it is exceedingly rare for active duty generals to speak so openly in opposition to the policies of the government.
In fact, retired Lt. Col. Oliver North, who is friends with Amos, said, “Senior officers on active duty rarely ever speak this way.”
The situation in Iraq is becoming increasingly dire, and more government and military officials need to summon the same strength and courage exhibited by Gen. Amos to and stand up and say what needs to be said to the Obama administration about its dangerous foreign policy.
