BREAKING: NEW Massive Ammo Ban Being Pushed… Here’s What Gets Banned

In the wake of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ illegal attempt to reclassify and ban M855 ammunition comes another attack on the Second Amendment by the Democrats, this time through Congress.

While they can be given credit for at least utilizing the correct way of proposing new (if unconstitutional) legislation, everything else about it can only be described as a deplorable assault on personal liberty.

The legislation, proposed by New York Democrat Rep. Steve Israel, would “extend the definition of armor-piercing ammunition to include all bullets that can pierce body armor and be used in handguns,” effectively banning almost all types of centerfire rifle bullets for no good reason.

According to the National Rifle Association, this sort of trick was tried by President Bill Clinton and Sen. Charles Schumer in the 1990s when they tried to outlaw centerfire rifle ammo by rating them on performance as opposed to realistic danger to others.

However, Clinton’s own ATF released a statement in 1997 concluding that “existing laws are working, no additional legislation regarding such laws is necessary,” effectively killing the legislation.

Now, Israel says that a similar law is necessary “(b)ecause of significant developments in bullet propellants, coatings and materials, such as Teflon.”

Notice the wording there. “Significant” developments, yes — that took place in the 1970s, when bullets began to be covered with the non-stick substance. Recent developments, no, unless you consider the Atari 2600 and Shrinky Dinks to be recent developments.

And, as the NRA points out, in the 38-odd years that the FBI has tracked the caliber of handguns used to kill police officers, none of the firearms used could fire either an M855 or any other .223 or 5.56mm cartridge.

This shouldn’t shock anyone. Gun control has always been a solution in search of a problem, sold to the American public under false pretenses and scare tactics.

Meanwhile, the Democrats seem flabbergasted as to why this angle doesn’t work, preferring to believe that the problem is people who “cling to guns or religion,” as President Barack Obama so aptly summed up how they view conservatives.

What the Democrats fail to realize is that real Americans of all political stripes will stand up to confront this affront to our freedom, as we will with all other attempts to cannibalize the Second Amendment.

If Democrats cannot understand the role of liberty and the right of self-defense in the American way of life, they shouldn’t be involved in the governing of America. Remember Rep. Israel’s bill — as well as all of the other attempts the Democrats have made to take away our God-given rights — the next time you are at the polls.
