An Iraqi Christian Tells His Horrifying Story

Relief for Iraqi Believers
Wednesday afternoon:

Eric Watt just sent me a disturbing letter from a man rescued by RUN Ministries volunteers. Abdullah is a 37-year-old Iraqi believer, who grew up near the Syrian border. He's the only survivor of a horrific ISIS attack on his entire family. Abdullah's wife and children, one as young as five years old, were shot in the head by these brutal and barbaric terrorists. I have Eric's permission to share this shocking letter with Grassfire team members:

Steve, I just received this letter from one of the people in our “Community of Hope" refugee camp. It is not easy to read ... but I want you and your team members to know what is really happening in northern Iraq.

2nd Sep 2014

Dear Brother Eric,

I'm very happy to see myself alive today. I'm the only one who is alive from my big family. I never thought that one day my eyes will see such a huge disaster in my life and in my family's life.

One day, I was in different village early in the morning when people came for me and said let's go to your house, your family is not alive any more. When I got in my village, I saw people were crying, women were yelling. I went to my house and saw that my family was shot to death -- all in their heads. I had no Idea what I would do.
I can't explain what I saw. Before the jihadists killed people in my village, they did very bad things with our young girls and women. I did not know what to do, where to go, because it was difficult for me to forget all that I had seen.

One day, I decided to go to areas where the jihadists have camps because I wanted to die with my family. I was not afraid. I just wanted to die. When I arrived, they said go far from here. I said, “Kill me! You killed my family, now kill me!" They said, “You are crazy. Go! Go!!!"
I thought, It's not working, I will commit suicide. So I went into the mountains to hang myself in a tree. Suddenly, your leaders came and saved me and have brought me to the "Community of Hope" refugee camp.

I met with hundreds of people in the camp, and their stories are more painful than mine. I asked God to give me a long life. I want to serve here in this camp. So today, I'm happy to serve my dear Jesus followers in this refugee camp.
I remember that God said in His Word that He is a God who heals us. Please pray God will heal us. Please pray for peace here. Every day our people are being killed; children are being orphaned; and families are losing their homes.

May God bless you all … Amen!

Abdullah

We can't do anything about the unimaginable horror Abdullah and so many others have faced at the hands of the anti-Christian ISIS terrorists. But we CAN help provide a “way of escape" -- a literal lifeline for those who have lost everything because they refuse to convert to Islam.

RUN Ministries is doing just that -- every day. As I write, more than 7,000 people just like Abdullah are being helped at RUN's “Community Of Hope" refugee camp. Eric Watt's team is working to build six more camps as quickly as possible to meet the overwhelming need.

Please consider supporting RUN's team of brave volunteers today as they rescue thousands just like Abdullah who have lost everything. Go here now to help RUN Ministries continue their relief efforts in northern Iraq as well as other vital outreaches:

Your gift will go directly to RUN and is tax-deductible. Most importantly, you will be helping to rescue people just like Abdullah and give them more than just a safe place -- you can help give them hope.

Thank you, in advance, for your support.

Steve Elliott, Grassfire

P.S. If there's any doubt that ISIS is carrying out genocide against Christians and other religious minorities in northern Iraq, Abdullah also shared in his letter what life was like before his wife and children were murdered:

My family was innocent, but they died for the sake of Jesus Christ. We were living in a very difficult situation for many months, facing difficulties from jihadists. We were not free to exercise our faith. My family and my relatives have been persecuted because of being Christians.
