Be Not Afraid

Be Not Afraid – by Susan Ferguson
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 KJV)
Mark Twain said, “I am an old man and have known a great many troubles but most of them never happened.” Mr. Twain’s humor is a reminder that most of what you worry about never happens.
Nothing can rob you of your peace of mind and sap your energy levels like worry. A by-product of fear, worry can take many forms including fear of failure, rejection, people, disaster, and death. Fear can strike when health issues arise or when a death occurs. Fear can come knocking when the bank account runs low, and the bills pile up. Some people worry about what people say or think about them. Fear can even trap you in believing that your circumstances are hopeless and will never change.
Even the bravest of souls fear something. David, a man of great courage and strength, dealt with fear and prayed for God’s protection from his enemies. David’s need for refuge and help created a strong reliance on God.
Some people fear the unknown, and they worry about their future. Not only does Jesus know your future, He holds your future. Living in a turbulent world, you will have to deal with fear, but you don’t have to live in fear. Jesus is your one constant in life and will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust Jesus, for He is trustworthy.
