Daily Bible Reading is a Command from God
By Adekunle Lawal
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8 KJV)
It is a pity to see some Christians neglect the divine instruction of daily Bible reading. Some Christians have never studied the Bible personally; they only rely on the few portions that are normally read during Sunday service.
Some Christians read the Bible daily, but they read only certain parts repeatedly every day. The Bible is not a Magical or enchanted book that brings luck to you when you read a particular portion daily.
Some Christians read the Bible like a novel. They can’t see the difference between the Bible and other books; as a result of this, they read it occasionally and for leisure.
Some Christians study the Bible haphazardly. They will pick up the Bible, carelessly open any page, and start reading without taking into consideration the portion studied previously. This is not an ideal way to read the Bible.
The Bible should be studied sequentially and systematically. Study one book of the Bible after the other; this takes you from Genesis to Revelation. There are many Daily Bible Guides to help you in this area. Every Christian needs to study the Bible daily for edification and spiritual growth (2 Timothy 3: 16).
Do not be discouraged. Prayerfully start studying your Bible today. May the Lord continue to bless you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
