The Word Became Flesh

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
And the Word was God.
HE was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made;
With out HIM nothing was made that has been made.
In HIM was LIFE, and that LIFE was the Light of men.
The Light shines in the darkness,
But the darkness has not understood it. (John 1:1-5 NIV)

[Christ Jesus is the Word of God and existed eternally with God;
The Word that spoke creation into existence, who was and is God.
God is LIFE, that is the only self-existent LIFE;
The LIFE from which all other life (natural life) comes.
He not only is LIFE, but He continually sustains all life.
God is the Light of men as He is the Way, the Truth;
The only Way and the only Truth that leads to Eternal LIFE.
After the fall of Adam and Eve, men were born into sin (darkness);
The only way out of that darkness
Is to receive the Light; His Way, His Truth, and His LIFE;
To receive the forgiveness purchased by the blood of Christ Jesus.]

John The Baptist
There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John
He came as a witness to testify concerning the Light,
So that through him all men might believe.
He himself was not the Light;
He came only as a witness to the Light.
The true Light that gives Light to every man was coming into the world.
(John 1:6-9 NIV)

[John the Baptist was sent by God to be a witness
To the fact that Jesus was the Christ of God
And to testify about that fact, so that all men might believe.
He was not the Light (Christ), but only a witness to the Light.
Christ Jesus is the True Light
And the only True Light given by God to the world.
Christ Jesus is the perfect image (representative) of God who is a Spirit
And cannot be seen; God in the flesh.]

HE was in the world, and though the world was made through HIM,
The world did not recognize HIM.
HE came to that which was HIS own, but his own did not receive HIM.
Yet to all who received HIM, to those who believed in HIS name,
HE gave the right to become the children of God--
Children born not of natural decent,
Nor of human decision or a husband’s will,
But born of God. (John 1:10-13 NIV)

[The Christ came, and though the world was made through Him,
The world did not recognize Him, because they were blinded by the devil.
He came to the nation of Israel, to the Jews, to His own,
And He was not recognized as the Messiah,
The Christ that they were waiting for.
Yet, to those who believed that He was the Christ
And received Him as the Christ,
He gave them the right to become the children of God;
Born again, not of natural decent, nor human decision or a husband's will
But born anew of the Spirit of the Living God;
The Spirit living in and through them,
By their faith in the Christ of God.]

The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us.
We have seen HIS glory, the glory of the One and only Son,
Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14 NIV)

[The Word, the Christ of God, became flesh
And mistered for approximately three and one-half years among the Jews.
He displayed His Glory with signs and wonders,
Healing the sick and raising the dead,
And was full of grace and truth in all He did and said.]

John testifies concerning him.
He cries out, saying, 'This was HE of whom I said,
HE who comes after me has surpassed me because HE was before me.'
From the fullness of HIS grace
We have all received one blessing after another.
For the law was given through Moses;
Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has ever seen God, but God the only Son,
Who is at the Father’s side has made Him known. (John 1:15-18 NIV)

[John declares that Christ Jesus was before him,
That is, Christ Jesus is eternal
With no beginning and no end.
Christ Jesus embodied the fullness of the grace of God,
His forgiveness, mercy and love;
Moses came with commandments,
But Christ Jesus was the embodiment of those commandments;
He is the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE; The fullness of God's grace
For all who will believe.
Christ Jesus made God known because He is God in flesh.]
