Almost 250 years ago, 13 separate colonies in North America, founded mostly by the British, made a pact together to form one unit. Instead of being colonies, they became states.

They joined together to form the United States. 

The federal government did not create the states. 

It was the reverse – the states united together to form these united states.

But today, we have a scenario where one state, Texas, is trying to protect itself from a type of invasion, while the federal government wants to hamper its efforts.

Ever since Joe Biden was sworn in, our borders have become quite porous. In three years, some 8 million illegals have come through the borders.

One measure that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recently took was to install rolls of razor wire at a certain place on the border. But the Biden administration sued to be granted permission to cut that razor. And even the Supreme Court agreed (5-4) with Biden, not Abbott, last week.

In response to that court decision, Cal Thomas opines, "The obvious question, which the court did not address: why is the federal government not enforcing immigration laws which migrants are breaking to enter the country?"

Critics ask: Do the open borders in our nation in any way undermine the Constitution? Here's how our governing document begins

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States."

Are some of these lofty goals being hamstrung today as millions of illegal immigrants stream into the country without being processed?

"Well, it's totally unconstitutional," says former U.S. Rep. Allen West on a recent radio segment with me.

He notes, "What you see happening down there is just unconscionable. … 

They're supposed to protect every state in the Union from an invasion. And that's exactly what we have happening. 

You have the willful, the intentional, and the purposeful abdication of the constitutional duty enumerated in Article IV, Section 4, by the Biden administration."

For this piece, I asked for comments from a couple of constitutional scholars, including Dr. Matthew Spalding, vice president and dean of the D. C. campus of Hillsdale College. Spalding served as the executive editor of the massive 2005 book, "The Heritage Guide to the Constitution."

Spalding told me, "Under the Constitution, the federal government guarantees 'to protect each of [the states] from Invasion' at the same time that it restricts the states from doing things associated with self-defense 'unless actually invaded.' 

At what point does the sheer number of drugs, weapons and criminals crossing an uncontrolled border – this can no longer be called merely immigration – amount to an invasion? 

The federal government may have plenary authority over immigration, but individual states have a duty to defend their citizens and property when the federal government abdicates its responsibility to protect those states."

What does the Constitution say? Article IV, Section 4, declares, "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion."

I also asked for a comment from constitutional attorney, law professor and author John Eidsmoe.

He told me that last week's decision is "only a skirmish in a long court battle": "The one-paragraph [Supreme Court] order simply said federal authorities could continue to cut wires set in place by Texas officials to prevent illegal immigration, until the case is finally resolved on its merits in the appeal from the District Court to the 5th Circuit, and, ultimately to the Supreme Court. This 5-4 order is far from the final word in the case."

Think of the cost of the open borders: Human trafficking, including sex trafficking of children, tens of thousands of Americans dying regularly from fentanyl overdoses, cities and towns overrun with more people than they can handle. And on it goes.

It boggles the mind that cities like New York City, Chicago and Denver claim to be "sanctuary cities," where they welcome one and all, including illegals. So Gov. Abbott has been busing many illegals, with their permission, to these places. But now the cities are complaining because they're being overrun. Ironically, so far they're complaining against Abbott, not Biden.

One man once warned us wisely against open borders: "We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country."

Agreed. That was Barrack Obama in 2005. It's scary to think that these days our freedom to secure the border is only razor thin.

Top U.S. Automaker Reports $1.7 BILLION Loss on EVs in 4th Quarter

General Motors reported a $1.7 billion loss on Tuesday in its fourth quarter earnings call in the production and sale of its electric vehicle line, despite having positive net income growth in the quarter.

The automaker’s net income for the fourth quarter rose 5.2% year-over-year to $2.1 billion despite a reduction in revenue over that time frame of 0.3%, according to GM’s fourth quarter earnings report. 

The losses on EVs accompany a $1.1 billion total loss from a six-week-long strike by the United Auto Workers that partially halted operations, with the union gaining a new work contract that could raise labor costs in the coming year, according to the company’s investor earnings call.

“In our EV business, we expect our U.S. portfolio will become variable profit positive in the second half of the year based on our current expectations for EV demand and production growth, strong interest in our vehicles, lower commodity prices and other factors,” Mary Barra, CEO of GM, said in the letter to shareholders Tuesday. 

“It’s true the pace of EV growth has slowed, which has created some uncertainty. But many third-party forecasts have U.S. EV deliveries rising from about 7% of the industry in 2023 to at least 10% in 2024, which would mean another year of record EV sales.”

The automaker noted that manufacturing and quality problems stymied the rollout of EVs in 2023, while demand from consumers in general has been weaker than expected, according to The Wall Street Journal. GM projects that EV sales will improve in the coming year as the company releases new models and scales production.

“What we don’t want to do is get into a position where we’re so focused on ramping up production that we’re not thinking about where the consumer is,” Paul Jacobson, CFO of GM, said in the investor call. “But so far, when you look across our models, we feel good at the way that they’re being received.”

GM did not immediately respond to a request to comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Steve Kirsch: No Doubt About It, COVID Shots CAUSE Dementia

'The CDC simply forgot to warn people about it'

COVID-shot skeptic Steve Kirsch has released a Substack report that charges there’s no doubt that the COVID shots “CAUSE dementia.”

The shots, by Pfizer and others, were developed at a breathtaking pace with government funding when the deadly COVID virus came out of a Chinese research lab that was working to make viruses worse.

They were inflicted on the American public without ordinary trials or tests, often by corporate or government mandate, and the side effects, including tens of thousands of deaths, have been mounting since.

He explained that he reviewed data on the government’s National Vaccine Information Center and confirmed hundreds of cases of the virus “where [a] symptom is dementia.”

He explained, “There is [no way] that you can have a 1,000X increase in event reports if the COVID vaccine isn’t causing this. 

The CDC simply ‘forgot’ to warn people about it.”

Actually, the COVID shots can be described as DNA treatment more accurately than a vaccine.

”The results are self-explanatory: the COVID vaccines cause dementia,” he charged. 

“Anyone who tells you ‘correlation isn’t causation’ should explain the actual cause of this if it wasn’t the COVID vaccine.”

Kirsch long has been known as a COVID shot skeptic. Online, he’s blasted as a “promoter of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines,” but the critics don’t document his “misinformation.”

What they show is he raised questions about the government’s talking points about COVID and those shots, which have been known to produce side effects like sudden collapse and death, heart problems, and more.

Kirsch’s influence comes from his founding of multiple companies and his development of the optical mouse.

Even his online detractors concede he’s been a prominent philanthropic supporter of medical research.

He was censored online multiple times for his questions about the government’s COVID-19 mandates.

'I'm Posting You Nude': U.S. Kids Killing Selves Due To 'Sextortion'

'I will make you so miserable that you can't even think'

American kids are killing themselves because of “sextortion” scams, according to a new study documented by a report from Breitbart.

Although the practice has been around for years already, is now is called the “fastest-growing crime targeting kids in the West,” the report said.

The report explains details are from the recent study by the Network Contagion Research Institute.

What it described is a cybercriminal organization in West Africa known as “Yahoo Boys” whose members pose as young girls online. They then coerce kids and teens into sending them explicit images of themselves.

They then demand ongoing payoffs, under the threat of widely distributing those images online, to the victim’s family, friends and others.

While the activity has been documented on Instagram, Snapchat and other platforms for some time, the damage is increasing, the report said.

NCRI analyst Paul Raffile said in the report that the actions are a “transnational crime threat that is actually causing a significant number of American deaths.”

Victims have committed suicide when faced with the extortionists’ demands.

Breitbart reported,  "In August, for example, two Nigerian men were extradited to the U.S. to face charges involving a sextortion scam that authorities said resulted the suicide of a 17-year-old high school student in Michigan, according to a report by NBC News.”

In November, another Nigerian was indicted for using such tactics to commit $2.5 million in wire fraud.

Further, the “Yahoo Boys” were posting online “training videos” to teach others how to target and victimize teens.

An online script, for example, suggested the criminals act “like a real girl,” then when they obtain images, to threaten, “You ready to comply with me? I will make you so miserable that you can’t even think … I will send your nude to lots of people online … Do you want this to happen – yes or no. If you do not want it to happen you will have to pay me.”

”How much you got there[?] If you are thinking of 200$ forget it I’m posting your nude and gonna make you die in pain,” the script suggested.

Speak The Truth In Love

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful,” (Proverbs 27:6 KJV).

May God give us the courage to be a friend when it’s time to sound a warning, or lend a helping hand to someone teetering on the edge of self-destruction; because the ‘wounds of a friend‘ speak the truth in love — a quality that seems in short supply these days. 

Jesus warned that in the last days, “the love of many will grow cold,” (Matthew 24:12 NIV) – may it not be said of us.

Courage to speak the truth is most difficult for those of us who’d rather avoid confrontation. 
We fear ‘imposing’ our will or our opinions on another. 
We fear being called out for being politically ‘incorrect’ (what does that even mean?). 
We find it far easier to hunker down with a tasty beverage, opining on the evening news, while witnessing traditional faith and family values crumble and collapse around us on a flat screen. 
Such a static Christianity is neither being faithful to God or a friend who might otherwise be saved from assured destruction by God’s glorious redemption through faith in Jesus Christ.

One needn’t read the news very long before coming across damaging ideologies that dismiss any idea of personal accountability to God. 
Such proponents typically point to something or someone else as being the problem, but who rarely require self-examination for themselves or the people they claim to protect. 
Others, hiding their true intentions like the ‘kisses of an enemy’, sell grievance and payback for reward in order to gain political power for themselves — when the truth is, God requires self-examination from everybody.
 
Believers in Jesus recognize who they would be without Christ, and who they are because of Christ. They own their sin if they’re sincere, and believe 

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed,” (John 8:36 KJV). Isn’t that what the world really needs to know and believe?

Give It Your All

LISTEN  

“You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? ”

—Galatians 5:7 

The Bible is an honest book. It gives us its heroes, warts and all. It tells us the truth so that we can find hope and comfort from people just like us.

Just think of some of the individuals in the Bible who had so much potential but self-destructed in the end. Take Saul, for example. God had anointed him as the first king of Israel. God’s Spirit came upon Saul, the Bible tells us, and he prophesied.

King Saul had tremendous potential to do good things for his nation. But he disobeyed God and allowed pride and paranoia to destroy him, and he met a tragic end on the battlefield. Ultimately Saul had no one to blame but himself. He had everything he needed to make a difference, but he threw it away.

Then there was Samson, whom God had blessed with superhuman strength. He was able to vanquish his enemies with relative ease, yet he squandered his potential in continual compromise, culminating in his own death.

Samson had his moments of greatness, his moments when God worked through him. But it was Samson’s fault that he never fully realized his potential.

Gideon came from humble origins, but God chose him to lead the children of Israel into battle. God used him mightily to vanquish Israel’s enemies. But in the end, Gideon lowered his standards, and he fell into immorality and pride. His beginnings were good. He had his great moments. But everything came crashing down in the end.

Lifted like Gideon from humble origins, King David became beloved of God as the man after His own heart (see 1 Samuel 13:14). He was a good king, and God did use him. But like his persecutor Saul, David also played the fool and almost threw his entire life away. And to some degree, he undid some of the great good he had done.

Fortunately, in the end, David came to his senses. He repented, and God restored him. But it was not without facing the continual repercussions of sin in his own life. Here was someone who started well, who faltered and was almost destroyed, and in the last moment, he began walking with God again. Yet he still paid a price for it.

These people started out with great potential, but they didn’t all find their way across the finish line. Maybe you can relate to them. Maybe you’ve been sidetracked. Maybe there was a time when you had an intense commitment to Jesus Christ, but other things have begun to crowd Him out. It isn’t too late. Don’t let your life be wasted.

Maybe as you look at your spiritual life today, you realize that you’re not doing well. You realize that you’re easing up and slowing down. Or maybe you’ve even walked off the track, so to speak.

Now is the time to get back into the race and give it your all so that one day, you won’t wake up and realize that you’ve wasted the resources and potential God has given you.
