When faith breaks through, you glorify God and have power and boldness.Four men had a literal breakthrough of faith:As [Jesus] was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason….He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!” (Luke 5:17–21, 24–26).Christ was in a house crowded with people, believers and unbelievers alike. Many had physical troubles, and “the power of the Lord was present to heal them”; but none of these religious people were healed. Then four men brought a paralyzed man on a stretcher, and because they could not get through the crowd they went up the outside stairs of the flat-roofed house, pulled apart the coverings, and lowered the man down right in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, He restored this man to health. It was a double breakthrough. They (physically) broke through the roof, and they (spiritually) broke through the unbelief of the crowd, which had kept them back from Christ. “They were all amazed…and were filled with fear.” Fear is one of Satan’s favorite tricks to try to undermine miracles. It is also possible to lose your healing if you allow unbelief to undermine what God has done. But when faith breaks through, it causes you to glorify God, it brings a power, a certainty, a boldness that enables you to withstand fear and unbelief, and empowers you to be a stronger witness than ever before.Taken from Daily Fire Devotional: 365 Days in God’s Word by Reinhard Bonnke.
