OBAMA'S DANGEROUS END GAME

ELECTION 2016

OBAMA'S END GAME

Exclusive: David Kupelian on why president will be increasingly outrageous in final months

If you were Barack Obama – a Marxist revolutionary disguised as a Democrat, who after promising “fundamental transformation” delivered it nonstop during his presidency, but was in grave danger of seeing his beloved radical changes eviscerated once he leaves office – what would you be doing right now?

No need to guess. Obama adviser Cecilia Muñoz, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, clearly sums up the mission of Team Obama in the home stretch of his transformative presidency.
Muñoz’s entire focus, she boasts, is making sure Obama’s controversial policies are permanently “institutionalized” so they will live on long after she and her boss are gone from the White House – no matter who succeeds Obama.
A former executive with the National Council of La Raza, a radical pro-amnesty Hispanic activist group, Muñoz says job one is “to make sure we build this [Obama’s immigration policies] really into the DNA across the federal bureaucracy, at a leadership level, but much more importantly to make sure that when political appointees like me are no longer here, this is built into what those agencies do and think about every day.”
In other words – and this applies not just to immigration, but to every area in which this president has turned America upside-down, from the economy to “social issues” to foreign policy – Obama’s policies are to be permanently baked into America’s government, bureaucracy, law and culture.
Of course, throughout his presidency, Obama and his team have deliberately schemed to make his revolutionary re-imagining of America difficult or impossible to undo by purposely enmeshing it as much as possible into the fabric of government, culture and “settled law.” Whether it’s giving Iran the nuclear green light with his appalling and deceit-laden treaty; or changing America’s voting demographics to favor Democrats by fast-tracking immigrants’ ability to vote (immigrants overwhelming vote for Democrats); or making same-sex marriage permanent in the Supreme Court whose 2015 decision passed with the support of Obama’s two justice picks, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan – Obama understandably doesn’t want his radical changes undone.
And during his final year, Obama has been burning the midnight oil. One example you probably haven’t heard about: Although excessive regulations are widely recognized to be suffocating the American economy, right now thousands of new regulations – from reducing exposure limits for silica, a chemical used in fracking, to requiring more small-scale gun sellers to perform background checks, to forcing food manufacturers to disclose how much sugar they add to cranberry juice – are being created around the clock throughout Washington’s vast government bureaucracies, before Obama’s term ends in January.
‘Getting under his critics’ skin’
Consider how historian Victor Davis Hanson, writing in National Review, sizes up Obama’s current mindset and home-stretch priorities.
Noting that Obama is doubling down on his most radical agenda items during his remaining few months in office – from importing as many Muslims as possible from the most radicalized parts of the world, to releasing more Guantanamo prisoners, to freeing thousands of felons – Hanson wonders: “In lieu of achievement, is the Obama theory to become relevant or noteworthy by offending the public and goading political enemies?”
After all, he accurately observes:
An Obama press conference is now a summation of all his old damn-you clichés – the fantasy strawman arguments; the caricatures of the evil Republican bogeymen; the demagogic litany of the sick, the innocent, and the old at the mercy of his callous opponents; the affected accentuation (e.g., Talîban; Pakîstan, Îslám, Latînos, etc.) that so many autodidacts parade in lieu of learning foreign languages; the make-no-mistake-about-it and let-me-be-clear empty emphatics; the flashing temper tantrums; the mangled sports metaphors; the factual gaffes; and the monotonous I, me, my, and mine first-person-pronoun exhaustion. What Obama cannot do in fact, he believes he can still accomplish through invective and derision.
But what about Obama’s legacy? Doesn’t every president desire a positive, glowing legacy in which to bask after leaving office? Writes Hanson: “If you suggested to Obama that, in his search for a contrarian legacy, he should do something to stop the slaughter in the Middle East and be careful about letting in more unexamined refugees, in answer, he would be more likely to do less than nothing abroad and vastly expand the influx of migrants.”
Why?
Because, says the noted historian, “Getting under his critics’ skin is about all that is left of a failed presidency.”
Indeed, adds Hanson, most Americans “still do not quite grasp that Obama will end his presidency by seeking to get his opponents’ goat,” who predicts ominously that Obama’s “resentment will lead to some strange things said and done.”
The chaos president
The problem now facing us is that, outside of the delusional world of leftist revolutionaries excitedly recreating America according to the precepts of their irrational secular religion, in the real world, Obama’s policies are devastating America – just as the same sorts of politically correct, multiculturally blind, rudderless socialist governance is currently destroying Europe before our eyes.
For almost eight years, people have asked whether Obama’s perverse policies are intentionally malevolent or the result of incompetence and ideological blindness.
At this point, the sheer perversity has become undeniable: He wants to bring as many refugees into America as possible. Americans are generous people and sympathetic toward refugees, but why are almost all of the refugees Sunni Muslims, and virtually none of them Christians (3 percent, according to FactCheck.org)?
Likewise, Obama claims he wants to eliminate racism in law enforcement – a relatively rare occurrence – to better the lives of blacks. But instead he is leaving the nation far less safe due to the “Ferguson Effect.”
Beyond the horrendous recent trend of assassinating police officers, the general murder rates have dramatically spiked in many U.S. cities, from Chicago to Dallas to Las Vegas to Los Angeles and Memphis, thanks to a demonized law enforcement establishment having second thoughts about engaging in the kind of aggressive, proactive community policing proven to dramatically reduce crime.
Indeed, newly released data documents “a sharp spike in homicide rates in more than 20 cities,” as the New York Times reports:
The heroin epidemic, a resurgence in gang violence and economic factors in some cities were all offered as explanations, but the most contentious theory came from an agency that usually does not worry much about local crime: the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The agency’s director, James Comey, has linked rising crime to less aggressive policing – the “viral video effect,” he called it this week, rejecting the more racially charged “Ferguson effect.”
So, why is Obama continually compelled to throw the nation into turmoil?
Addiction has become a huge problem in the U.S., as I document in “The Snapping of the American Mind.” Well it turns out, President Obama is also addicted – to creating chaos and confusion as a smokescreen for facilitating the advance of what is, to be blunt, an evil agenda.
Obama’s ultimate defense
In the end, of course, Obama’s ultimate defense against the reversal of his radical transformation, which has already wreaked unspeakable havoc on America’s economy, national security, military, culture and so much more, is to see that a far-left Democrat successor – Hillary Clinton – is elected president. Putting aside every other toxic thing this career criminal (along with her serial sex-predator husband) would do if made leader of the free world, just consider that the Supreme Court nominees she would install would pour the judicial concrete that would render permanent Obama’s catastrophic transformation of the American system. Indeed, the entire progressive-left agenda – including effectively “reinterpreting” the Second Amendment out of existence – could be fast-tracked into a solidly leftwing activist Supreme Court and embedded so deeply in our society as to be virtually untouchable for generations, regardless of who might be elected to the White House and Congress in 2020 and beyond.
This is why the “Never-Trump” movement must be considered, at this point, not just wrongheaded, but utterly destructive of the very principles of constitutional conservatism it claims so fervently to uphold. A strange, suicidal betrayal of everything they claim to hold dear. But then, pride has a nasty way of tricking people into doing just that.

NEW AD CAMPAIGN PINS PAUL RYAN AS PRO-MUSLIM REFUGEE

House Speaker Paul Ryan, left, is being challenged in the Aug. 9 Wisconsin primary by businessman Paul Nehlen, right.

WND EXCLUSIVE

NEW AD CAMPAIGN PINS PAUL RYAN AS PRO-MUSLIM REFUGEE

He's also for 'illegal sanctuary cities, Obama's executive amnesty'

Leo Hohmann
An immigration watchdog group hopes to repeat the successful campaign that helped unseat Eric Cantor in 2014 by launching a similar ad targeting House Speaker Paul Ryan, highlighting his support for President Obama’s executive amnesty decrees, sanctuary cities for illegals and Syrian refugee resettlement programs.
The ad by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC hammers “Lyin Paul Ryan” for his leading role in negotiating a $1.1 trillion omnibus bill that fully funded Obama’s amnesty plans, sanctuary cities, and expanded refugee program.
While at the same time he was talking publicly against Syrian refugees, Ryan was working behind the scenes to round up the votes to fully fund Obama’s plans to increase the total influx of refugees from 70,000 to 85,000 this year and 100,000 next year. The refugees will come from countries throughout the Third World, including 10,000 this year from Syria, a country infested with jihadists fighting for ISIS, al-Nusra Front, al-Qaida and other religious fanatics trying to bring down secular dictator Bashar Assad. Another 7,500 or more will come from the America-hating Somalia, about 5,000 more from Afghanistan and at least 10,000 from Iraq. Even the Buddhist-majority country of Burma is offloading its Muslim population to the United States, with thousands per year coming from that country.
The ALIPAC ad campaign is modeled after its “Thank Eric Cantor” automated call campaign in 2014 that was broadcast into GOP households via automated calls and radio ads. ALIPAC’s messages and efforts were part of the historic defeat of Cantor, the former Republican House majority leader from Virginia who supported amnesty for illegals. Cantor was defeated in the GOP primary by Dave Brat, R-Va.
ALIPAC launched the campaign against Ryan Friday via automated calls, radio ads planned for talk radio stations in Wisconsin and a YouTube video that activists are being asked to watch and circulate.
The Wisconsin primary is Aug. 9 with Ryan squaring off against businessman Paul Nehlen.
Watch Video: ‘Fire Lyin Paul Ryan to stop Obama’s Amnesty’
Another immigration watchdog, NumbersUSA president Roy Beck, has called Ryan’s stance on immigration “terrifying.” And that stance isn’t about to change, despite any political rhetoric to the contrary, because open borders are embedded in Ryan’s “ideological DNA,” Beck said.
“There’s nobody in the Republican Party who could be worse than Paul Ryan,” Beck told Breitbart last fall when Ryan was being drafted for the Speakership. “He has spent his entire adulthood ideologically connected to the open borders crowd. Open Borders is in his ideological DNA. That’s the terrifying thing. He’s an ideologue and his spent his whole life working for ideologues. Open borders seeps out of every pore of his being. This isn’t personal, it’s just who he is.”
Nehlen is a successful and flamboyant businessman who sports tattoos, rides a motorcycle and drives a dump truck through the district painted with his campaign slogan, “Dump Ryan.” He says Ryan has betrayed Wisconsin and America by agreeing to fully fund President Obama’s immigration plan and Obamacare while championing the secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
On his website, Nehlen lists his top three priorities as follows:
• Reclaim Wisconsin’s 1st District for We The People
• Stop Paul Ryan’s Cronyism & Corruption
• Secure Our Borders & Enforce Existing Immigration Laws
Nehlen says on his website he is against secret trade deals, including the pending Trans Pacific Partnership, which water down U.S. sovereignty and make war on the middle class.
Some big names have lined up behind Nehlen, including Sarah Palin, Michelle Malkin and border hawk Ann Coulter.
Palin, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate, used the term “Cantored” to describe the push to replace Ryan. This is a reference to the stunning upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor by Rep. Dave Brat in Virginia in 2014.
ALIPAC’s first calls have already launched, with 20 to 25 volunteers taking to the phones.
“Ryan is spending millions while lying his butt off to conservatives,” Gheen said. “This is the same strategy used by McCain, Lindsey Graham, and many others. It saved McCain six years ago when he spent millions and lied about his true immigration positon and it was so disappointing to see so many people in Arizona vote for him again when they should understand who he is. And once you go amnesty you never come back. We have never seen a politician honestly be on the wrong side of that issue and then transition to the right side. We’ve seen them back off for a while, but then they always come back. All we’ve seen is lies, lies, lies from Paul Ryan.”
The ad points out that Paul Ryan is Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s ally on immigration.
He is also the ally of Clinton’s globalist vice-presidential running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va.
Kaine said they would pass amnesty within the first 100 days of a Clinton presidency and the reason that would happen was the Democrat’s secret weapon – Paul Ryan.
As the Washington Times reported:
“A new Clinton administration would pursue a bill to legalize illegal immigrants in ‘the first 100 days’ of her tenure, vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine told Spanish-language network Telemundo in an interview Monday… [Kaine] said House Speaker Paul D. Ryan will lead the GOP to embrace legalization.
“He’s on their side,” Gheen told WND. “And yet he’s placing mailers all over his district saying he’s for cracking down on illegal immigration and tightening the borders. He’s making himself out to seem like Sheriff Joe Arpaio, border hawk Paul Ryan, secure the border. He’s a serial liar and traitor to the people of the United States. He has the same job Obama has, and that is to lie to America and to sell out America. That’s what they’re paid for, that’s why they’re in their positions of power.
“We’ve been the ones who have brought the giants down in the past. It doesn’t always work but you’ve got to throw the rock. Today we’re throwing the rock. We need volunteers and donors to go after Paul Ryan with everything we’ve got to muster.”
The most important battle ground in America today is the first district in Wisconsin and its 16-year incumbent, Gheen said. Yet, many Wisconsin conservatives still haven’t figured out that Ryan is a notorious open-borders zealot.
“He’s been up there forever,” Gheen said. “There are some hardcore conservatives who have been voting for Paul Ryan for a long time and they love him and they don’t understand what he really stands for. Our main message is that Paul Ryan is paying for and helping Obama transplant dangerous Muslims into your area.”
“These conservatives who say they like their Paul Ryan and they voted for him so many times before, they don’t realize they’re helping him pump in hundreds of Islamic terrorists right there into their own cities and towns as well as enough illegals that you won’t be able to get a Republican elected as dogcatcher in a few years,” Gheen said. “And everything for these refugees and illegals is paid for by the U.S. taxpayer including their housing, their medical expenses, their education, their Internet access and their cellphone.”
Anyone interested in helping make these calls to defeat Paul Ryan should contact WilliamG@alipac.us.
ALIPAC is also asking for donations to help fund the automated calls and radio ads against Paul Ryan so the message can reach at least 25,000 GOP households in Wisconsin’s 1st district.

GOING VIRAL: 'CLINTON CASH' MOVIE VERSION

GOING VIRAL: 'CLINTON CASH' MOVIE VERSION

'Clintons have amassed a $2 billion empire … with scams'

Peter Schweizer’s book “Clinton Cash” created a firestorm in the 2016 presidential campaign, and now the movie version is doing the same, with nearly 700,000 views online in just the first few days.

The movie spotlights Schweizer’s investigation of donations to the Clinton Foundation by foreign entities who sought favors from the Hillary Clinton-led State Department
It’s a good thing that it’s been released, according to New York Times bestselling author Jerome Corsi, whose new book on the Clinton Foundation, “Partners in Crime: The Clinton’s Scheme to Monetize the White House for Personal Profit”, has just arrived.
“Peter Schweizer’s excellent book ‘Clinton Cash’ and his movie by the same title has scored a body blow against the idea that the Clinton Foundation is a legitimate charity,” Corsi said. “My book, ‘Partners in Crime,’ takes a complimentary, but different approach in demonstrating the Clinton Foundation is a vast, criminal conspiracy.
“Schweizer’s central charge is corruption, namely, that the Clintons conspired to have Hillary as secretary of state utilize ‘official acts’ to make policy decisions through her office that were ‘pay-to-play’ payoffs designed to benefit those who made sizable donations to the Clinton Foundation,” he said.
Corsi said while he believes the allegation “can ultimately be substantiated, proving beyond a reasonable doubt the nexus between the official act and the payoff will require proof the donations to the Clinton Foundation were conditioned on the favor State Department policies being made.”
His own book explains the evidence for the crime of inurement, utilizing a tax-favored charity to enrich oneself, he said.
“The crime of inurement can be proved through an examination of the audited financial statements and regulatory filings with state and federal governments that the Clintons have filed for the Clinton Foundation since inception,” he said. “As my book proves, the Clintons have amassed a $2 billion empire by utilizing the Clinton Foundation to exploit human misery wherever and whenever a natural disaster arises.
“So with the scams perpetrated on both the Indian and Haitian earthquakes, Bill Clinton rushed to the scene and made sure he got some well publicized photo opportunities where he could be seen commiserating with the victims and promising to raise charitable donations for their relief. As any grifter knows, a disaster is a perfect opportunity to play on human emotions for personal profit.”
Corsi said he would support Schweizer in his efforts to expose the Clinton Foundation crimes, “as I believe his work together with my work produces the type of one-two punch we need to bring to the attention of the public around the world the criminal scam that is at the heart of the Clinton Foundation.”
WND previously reported on Schweizer’s project and posted his interview with Radio America. He explained there is a pattern of Clinton Foundation donations greasing the skids for political favors throughout Hillary Clinton’s congressional and diplomatic career, and no one has been able to discredit the facts in the book.
The thrust of the book is that the Clinton Foundation raked in millions and even billions of dollars from foreign donors who subsequently saw their most important issues addressed favorably by the Hillary Clinton-led State Department.
The book has rocked the Clinton campaign, as the Clinton Foundation was forced to admit that it took foreign donations while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, refiled years worth of tax returns and revealed some 1,100 donors that it hadn’t previously disclosed.
Schweizer said there are a lot of different threads to follow in the various episodes, but he says the basic plot is as old as politics itself.
“Follow the money. If you follow the money in this case, you’re talking about a scale of money that is unprecedented,” said Schweizer. “It’s a classic case of money in politics. When you give money, you want access and you want a favorable opportunity to get things done for your benefit.”

'ZIKA IS NOT HERE': MOSQUITOES NOW SPREADING VIRUS IN US

'Zika is now here': Mosquitoes now spreading virus in US

By the Associated Press | July 29, 2016 | 8:00 PM EDT
FILE - In this Tuesday, June 28, 2016, file photo, Evaristo Miqueli, a natural resources officer with Broward County Mosquito Control, takes water samples decanted from a watering jug, checking for the presence of mosquito larvae in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The officers make daily inspections and respond to resident's complaints about mosquitoes, as part of their mosquito control procedure. Florida's governor said Friday, July 29, that the state likely has the first cases of Zika transmitted by mosquitoes on the U.S. mainland. (AP Photo/Lynne Sladky, File)
MIAMI (AP) — Mosquitoes have apparently begun spreading the Zika virus on the U.S. mainland for the first time, health officials said Friday, a long-feared turn in the epidemic that is sweeping Latin America and the Caribbean.
Four recently infected people in the Miami area — one woman and three men — are believed to have contracted the virus locally through mosquito bites, Gov. Rick Scott said.
No mosquitoes in Florida have actually been found to be carrying Zika, despite the testing of 19,000 by the state lab. But other methods of Zika transmission, such as travel to a stricken country or sex with an infected person, have been ruled out.
"Zika is now here," said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Still, U.S. health officials said they do not expect widespread outbreaks in this country like those seen in Brazil, in part because of better sanitation, better mosquito control and wider use of window screens and air conditioners.
The virus has triggered alarm across the Western Hemisphere's warmer latitudes. While most people who get Zika don't even know they are sick, infection during pregnancy can cause severe brain-related birth defects, including disastrously small heads.
More than 1,650 people in the mainland U.S. have been infected with Zika in recent months, nearly all while traveling abroad. The four people in Florida are believed to be first to contract the virus from mosquitoes within the 50 states.
"This is not just a Florida issue. It's a national issue — we just happen to be at the forefront," Scott said.
Florida agricultural officials immediately announced more aggressive mosquito-control efforts, and Florida politicians rushed to assure tourists it's still safe to visit the state.
Some medical experts said pregnant women should not travel to the Miami area, especially if the visit involves spending time outdoors. The CDC is not issuing such advice, however.
Health officials said the U.S. might see small clusters of infections. But "we don't expect widespread transmission in the continental United States," the CDC's Frieden said.
The four Florida infections are thought to have occurred in a small area just north of downtown Miami, in the Wynwood arts district, the governor said.
The area, known for bold murals spray-painted across warehouses, art galleries, restaurants and boutiques, is rapidly gentrifying and has a number of construction sites where standing water can collect and serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
People in Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward counties are being tested to learn whether there are more cases, the governor said.
"If I were a pregnant woman right now, I would go on the assumption that there's mosquito transmission all over the Miami area," warned Dr. Peter Hotez, a tropical medicine expert at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas.
He said that there are probably more cases that have not been diagnosed, and that people should not be surprised if mosquitoes are soon found to be spreading Zika in Louisiana and Texas as well.
Earlier this week, federal authorities told blood centers in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale areas to stop collecting blood until they screen it for the virus.
Zika's symptoms can include low-grade fever, rash, joint pain, headaches and inflamed eyes and typically last seven to 10 days. None of the four people infected in Florida are showing symptoms anymore, officials said.
Frieden said the evidence suggests that the mosquito-borne transmission occurred several weeks ago over several city blocks.
It's not unusual that no mosquitoes have tested positive for Zika, said C. Roxanne Connelly, a medical entomology specialist at the University of Florida and a past president of the American Mosquito Control Association.
It can take a couple of weeks before an infected person shows symptoms, and by then the mosquitoes that transmitted the virus are dead, she said.
"Believe it or not, it's difficult to find positive mosquitoes even when you're in the middle of an epidemic," Connelly said. "Sometimes you don't know where these people were infected. At home? At work? Where they were playing baseball?"
Zika primarily spreads through bites from a specific species of mosquito that is found in urban parts of the South and peaks in number in August and September. There have been more than 4,700 cases of mosquito-borne Zika in Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories.
The cycle of infection inside a country can start when a blood-sucking mosquito bites a traveler who has returned from abroad with the virus in his or her bloodstream. The mosquito then bites someone else, spreading the virus.
Health officials have been long predicting this would happen in the continental U.S. sometime this summer, probably in Florida and Texas, because of the types of mosquitoes that thrive there and the large numbers of people who travel back and forth to Latin America.
Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, whose jurisdiction includes Walt Disney World and other Orlando-area theme parks, said tourists shouldn't think twice about coming to the Sunshine State. Florida had more than 106 million visitors last year, and tourism is the state's biggest industry.
Florida's theme parks "have mosquito control down like no place else I don't think on the planet," Jacobs said.
Zika-fighting efforts include pesticide spraying, setting of traps and eliminating standing water around homes.
Florida's governor has allocated over $25 million for dealing with Zika, and the White House and the CDC have provided over $10 million. However, Congress left on a seven-week vacation without giving the Obama administration any of the $1.9 billion it sought to battle the virus.
White House spokesman Eric Schultz called that "regrettable" and said: "Today's news should be a wake-up call to Congress to get back to work."
Jenny Gray, who is 27 and works in Wynwood for an art designer, said she will follow the experts' advice to wear insect repellent.
"I don't plan on having kids now, but I do sometime in the future. Better to stay protected," she said. "That really does concern me."
But Phillip Lopez, a 34-year-old Wynwood resident who works at an outdoor bar and exercises outside, said: "It's a concern, but you got to do what you got to do. You can't not go outside."

CLINTON ONE DAY AFTER BENGHAZI: 'WE KNOW THAT THE ATTACK...HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FILM

Clinton One Day After Benghazi: ‘We Know That the Attack … Had Nothing to Do With the Film’

By Rachel Hoover | July 29, 2016 | 11:50 AM EDT
Then-Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton testifies before Congress
about the attack on the Benghazi
compound.  (AP)
(CNSNews.com) -- In their "Additional Views" supplement to the House Select Committee on Benghazi report, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) conclude that "the administration misled the public about the Benghazi attack," which occurred on Sept. 11, 2012.
Specifically, the congressmen provide a timeline of the events and a timeline of public and private statements made by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other Obama administration officials. "The administration made statements about Beghazi that led the public to believe the attack began spontaneously as a protest over an anti-Islamic video circulating on the Internet," they write. "It was, they said, the same video that had sparked demonstrations in Cairo earlier that day."
"The first statement came from Secretary Clinton," says the report. "More would follow, from the President, from ambassador Rice, and from others. Each seemed to blame the murders on a video and a protest. Yet, in truth, no protest had occurred in Benghazi that night. And even today no clear link between the video and the attack exists."
Instead of sharing the truth, reads the supplement, "the administration concealed it. And in doing so it misled the American people for political gain."
The timeline of public and private statements on whether the attack was a planned attack or a protest in response to an anti-Muslim video is presented below as documented in the “Proposed Additional Views of Representatives Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo,” released on June 28, 2016.
Sept. 11, 2012
  • 3:42 p.m. Washington time: an attack begins on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
  • 6:49 p.m., Secretary Clinton calls President of Libya Mohammed al Magariaf, and does not mention a video or protest. The call sheet for this conversation also does not mention a protest or video.
  • 7:30 p.m.: An emergency call takes place between Clinton and other officials from the Department of Defense, the State Department, and CIA related to a YouTube video, the trailer for a film called The Innocence of Muslims, including an "action item" for Defense Secretary Panetta to call Pastor Terry Jones (who promoted the film, and was known for burning copies of the Koran) to ask him to take down the video.
  • 10:08 p.m., Clinton makes a public statement, saying, “Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material on the Internet.”
  • 11:23 p.m., Clinton e-mails her daughter Chelsea, saying, “Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Qaeda-like group.”
Then-White House Press Secretary
Jay Carney,  who discussed on Sept.
18, 2012 "what we know thus far about
the video" and its influence in
"Benghazi."  (AP)
Sept. 12, 2012
  • Clinton remarks publicly,“Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior, along with the protest that took place at our Embassy in Cairo yesterday, as a response to inflammatory material posted on the internet.”
  • President Obama isinterviewed by Steve Kroft of60 Minutes, who said, “[T]here are reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades. That doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration,” to which Obama answered, “As I said, we’re still investigating exactly what happened. … [M]y suspicion is, is that there are folks involved in this who were looking to target Americans from the start.” (Note: These remarks were deleted from the Sept. 23 broadcast, and only made public just before the November 2012 election; see below.)
  • Clinton’s deputy chief of staff and Joe Biden’s foreign policy advisor Jacob Sullivan writes in an e-mail to the embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, “[W]e are not saying that the violence in Libya erupted ‘over inflammatory videos.’
  • 3:04 p.m., Hillary Clinton tells Egyptian Prime Minister, We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film. It was a planned attack--not a protest.” (Emphasis added.)
Sept. 13
  • Clinton makes remarks at the Opening Plenary of U.S.-Morocco Strategic Dialogue, saying, “I also want to take a moment to address the video circulating on the Internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries.”
  • State Department Deputy Secretary Thomas Nides calls the event a “targeted attack,”according to the summary of a call between him and Egyptian ambassador to the U.S.
Sept. 14
  • 11:15 a.m.: CIA talking points state that the “the attacks in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo,” but also that “Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qa’ida participated in the attack.” The talking points underwent approximately 8revisions over the next 24 hours, eventually scrubbing all references to Islam, al Qaeda, and other groups, and even removing the word “attacks.” The final draft states simply, “There are indications that extremists participated in violent demonstrations.” No video is mentioned in the talking points at any stage of revision.
  • 11:42 a.m.: White House Spokesman Jay Carney tells reporters at a press briefing“We have no information to suggest that it was a preplanned attack. The unrest we’ve seen around the region has been in reaction to a video that Muslims, many Muslims, find offensive.”
  • White House Advisor Benjamin Rhodes writes an e-mail listing “goals” of Ambassador Susan Rice’s scheduled talk-show appearances, including “To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy.”
