DOES THE MILITARY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH JESUS?

Does the Military Have a Problem with Jesus?

Todd Starnes | Oct 31, 2014 - Townhall
“So no matter how stressful your life can be with juggling family issues, relationships, career advancement, work, school, or any burden that life throws your way, cast it upon the Lord and He will sustain you,” the colonel wrote.
It wasn’t too longer after the newsletter was posted online before someone filed a complaint – lamenting that the colonel’s words had caused great angst and offense.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation’s Mikey Weinstein reached out to Air Force officials at the Pentagon, the Air National Guard is governed by Air Force rules, as well as the 180th Fighter Wing demanding they remove what he called “that odious and offending proselytizing commentary.”
Before you could say God bless America, the military ordered the colonel’s remarks stricken from the newsletter. Ohio National Guard spokesman James Sims told me the column was a clear violation of military policy.
“It’s very clear what you can and cannot say in an Air Force publication,” Sims said. “Once it was brought to our attention and we compared it with the regulation, we found it was in violation of the regulation.”
So what rules did Col. Marquinez violate by referencing the Almighty? I want to quote from the official statement provided by the Ohio National Guard:
“The article violated AFI 1-1, Sections 2.11 and 2.12.1, and the Revised Interim Guidelines Concerning Free Exercise of Religion in the Air Force guidance, and finally, ‘The Air Force Military Commander and the Law’ book.”
A bit much, don’t you think? All that for mentioning that “With God all things are possible.”
I’m surprised the Air Force didn’t convene a court martial. For the record, Sims told me that to his knowledge the colonel was not reprimanded for writing about Jesus – just censored.
But the Air Force wasn’t content with just removing the colonel’s column. No sir. They had to publically shame and humiliate this officer and gentleman.
As Sims noted in his statement, after the article was removed from the newsletter, it was “followed up with a base-wide email, with updated link for the Singer, stating: ‘The 180th FW Public Affairs office has removed the article ‘A Spiritual Journey as a Commander’ from The Stinger, Volume 52, Issue 09, September 2014 due to sensitivities.”
Sensitivities?
I’ve included a link to the colonel’s “offensive” column. Please note the “sensitive” nature.
Here’s one of the sections that violated the “godless” standards of the Air Force.
“I would not be the man I am today if it wasn’t for my mother leading our whole family to Jesus Christ,” Col. Marquinez wrote. “Her creed to us five children growing up is God first in your life, then comes family and third work.”
The Air Force regulations that were allegedly violated regard “government neutrality regarding religion.”
“Leaders at all levels must balance constitutional protections for an individual’s free exercise of religion or other personal beliefs and the constitutional prohibition against governmental establishment of religion,” the regulation states. “For example, they must avoid the actual or apparent use of their position to promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to extend preferential treatment for any religion.”
Think of it as a sort-of religious version of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”
As you might imagine, the Air Force’s censorship rubbed religious liberty advocates the wrong way.
“Not only did you publicly humiliate him by your actions, but you have sent a chilling message to other members of the Air Force, that they need to keep their faith to themselves or else rise the judgment of the command,” wrote Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty executive director Ron Crews in a letter to the wing commander.
“Your actions violated his rights under the First Amendment – both his free exercise of religion and his free speech,” Crews added.
Chaplain Alliance is calling on the Air Force to reverse its censorship and repost the colonel’s column.
“The Ohio National Guard is not free to censor the protected speech of one of its members based on the content that speech,” he said.
As Crews pointed out in his letter, just last year a Moody Air Force Base publication posted a column entitled, “Atheist Ponders Spiritual Fitness.”
So if the Air Force can make an accommodation for atheists, why can’t they make one for Christians?
My comments: This is just one example of the godless, Secular Humanists, led by Obama and the Democrats, trying to eradicate Christianity form the Military and the entire Nation. A godless Military is a IMPOTENT Military.

SESSIONS: 'THE WORLD HAS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN'

Sessions: 'The World Has Turned Upside Down'

1:17 PM, OCT 30, 2014 • BY DANIEL HALPER
Senator Jeff Sessions will soon release this statement in response to a report in the Wall Street Journal that details President Obama's plans to unilaterally implement amnesty.
"The Wall Street Journal confirmed today that the President is planning to issue a massive unilateral executive amnesty after the election.
"In its report, the WSJ certifies that this executive amnesty would provide work permits for illegal immigrants—taking jobs directly from struggling Americans.
"Based on the USCIS contract bid and statements from USCIS employees, we know this executive immigration order is likely to be broader in scope than anyone has imagined.
"Earlier this week, President Obama’s former head of Homeland Security revealed that she overrode resistance from administration lawyers and law enforcement agents in implementing the President’s earlier unlawful amnesty and work authorization program for illegal immigrants 30 and under. This was an open admission by one of the most senior people in government of violating one’s oath of office in order to accomplish a nakedly political aim.
"The President is assuming for himself the sole and absolute power to decide who can enter, work, live, and claim benefits in the United States. He has exempted virtually every group in the world from America’s immigration laws: people who enter before a certain age, people related to people who enter before a certain age, adults traveling with minors, minors traveling with adults, illegal immigrants who are not convicted of serious crimes, illegal workers who are convicted of serious crimes but not enough serious crimes, almost anyone who shows up the border and demands asylum, the millions who overstay their visas, and, as was recently exposed, illegal immigrants with serious criminal histories. The list continues to grow.
"A nation creates borders and laws to protect its own citizens. What about their needs?
My comments: Obama is a godless, LAWLESS man, without regard for the US Constitution or any LAW. He will do as he pleases and dares anyone to stop him. And the godless Democrats give him their approval. NEVER, has America experience such demonic audacity. Unless America REPENTS and turns back to God Almighty, she is FINISHED.

MUSLIMS ARE TRUSTING THEIR god ARE WE TRUSTING OURS?

Muslims are trusting their god - are we trusting ours?

Bryan FischerSophisticated weapons used with no trust in the living God will in the end be no match for unsophisticated weapons used with trust in a powerful demon god. Let's hope and pray that America and her leaders realize this before it's too late.

The October 28 New York Times features a story about how our Muslim enemies in Iraq and Syria have acquired sophisticated surface-to-air missiles, some of Chinese manufacture and others made by Russia.

The real takeaway, though, from the article is the following pull quote. Referring to written instructions regarding the use of these missiles, we are told, "The authors urged 'strong confidence in God and composure,' and certainty 'that this operation will cause a disaster to the foes and destroy their arrogance.'" (Emphasis mine.)

By "God," of course, the Muslims refer to Allah, the god of Islam. Now make no mistake: Allah is not the God of Christianity, for our God has a Son while their god does not. Muslims regard the claim that Allah has a Son as rank heresy and blasphemy. In many Muslim countries, they will cut your head off for even believing it.

On top of that, Christians worship Christ himself as God. Muslims do not. So it is plainly self-evident that we do not worship the same God our Muslim enemies do.

The god of Islam is not the "Creator" the Founders referred to in the Declaration, who alone is the source of all our inalienable civil and human rights. The god of Islam is a different god altogether. If the Scriptures are to be trusted - and they are - Allah is not a "god" at all but a powerful demon whose throne is in the bottomless pit of satanic darkness.

As Scripture says, "[W]hat pagans sacrifice, they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons" (1 Corinthians 10:20-21).

Here's what is imperative to note. Muslims, in their war on Christian civilization in general and on the United States in particular, understand that they are involved in spiritual warfare. It's their god against ours.

They understand that the conflict is about a lot more than guns and soldiers and tanks and rockets. It is ultimately a battle whose outcome will be determined by the powerful but unseen forces which operate in the unseen world.

So Muslims understand that we are engaged in spiritual warfare. Here's the real question: do we?

You cannot beat something with nothing, and you cannot defeat demonic powers with the arm of the flesh alone. Spiritual battle requires the use of spiritual weaponry. Muslims understand this. I am certain that our president does not. Or if he does, it is a truly alarming possibility that his sympathies may lie more with Islam and its god than with Christianity and its God.

With his relentless attack on Christian expression in the military and his relentless suppression of Christian chaplains, our commander-in-chief is weakening our military in a far more serious way than by reducing funding and troop strength.

George Washington understood clearly that spiritual might was a far more precious military asset to his army than weapons. That's why his first order of business as our first commander-in-chief was to order the appointment of Christian chaplains and to order his troops to attend "divine service" unless they were required to be at their post.

Another commander-in-chief of long ago, who was virtually undefeated in battle, wrote, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord (lit. 'Yahweh') our God" (Psalm 20:7).

Our defeat of the Nazis in WWII came in no small measure through our faith in God. FDR himself prayed to Almighty God on national radio as our soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy. Our God proved to be superior in strength to the occult powers Hitler worshiped.

Sophisticated weapons used with no trust in the living God will in the end be no match for unsophisticated weapons used with trust in a powerful demon god.
Let's hope - and pray - that America and her leaders realize this before it's too late. If we don't, the flag of Islam may indeed one day fly over the White House.

My comments: America under godless Obama and the Democrats is a godless Nation and therefore DEFENSELESS. America's only Hope is to STOP ITS SIN AGAINST GOD--TO REPENT--AND TO CRY OUT TO HIM FOR HIS PROTECTION.

WHITE HOUSE PLAYING A DANGEROUS GAME WITH ISRAEL

White House Playing a Dangerous Game with Israel

No matter which party winds up controlling the House and Senate after next Tuesday's elections, we will hear the usual calls for bipartisan cooperation.
Many Democratic candidates are running in hyper-drive trying to distance themselves from President Barack Obama.
One area in which they could find some common ground with Republicans is to oppose the increasingly dangerous penchant of the White House and State Department to attack Israel, a country that is already under greater siege because of failed U.S. behavior in the Middle East.
In the past few months, Israel has withstood the terrorist kidnapping and murder of three teenagers, a rocket barrage from Gaza that triggers seek-shelter sirens for some two million Israelis, an incursion to stop those rocket attacks, the murder of an 8-month old American-Israeli baby who was hurled into the air when a terrorist driver plowed into a crowd at a Jerusalem train stop (as well as a tribute to that terrorist by members of Palestinian Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party), and now the apparently nationalist shooting of an Orthodox Jewish figure on the streets of the Israeli capital.
And all of that happened as ISIS pursues its bloody quest to build a caliphate, Syria's regime kills hundreds of thousands of its own citizens and forces millions to flee, and Iran spins its centrifuges to build the nuclear bombs it craves, while the West yawns.
The administration's response: it allowed a "senior advisor" to tell The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a "chickens***t" and a coward for not striking Iran and for not pursuing U.S. demands for further negotiations now with Abbas and other Sunni leaders.
More significantly, that advisor also seemed to welcome Iran's nuclear progress, while the U.S. foreign policy apparatus bears down on Israel for building apartments in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem.
When asked by a reporter, "Is the administration trying to figure out who made those inappropriate and counter-productive comments," a State Department spokesperson, showing disdain for the subject, answered, "There are anonymous sources in all of your stories every single day. If we spent all of our time focused on that effort, we wouldn't be working on diplomacy."
Nearly 24 hours later, her boss, Secretary of State John Kerry, finally called the remarks "disgraceful, unacceptable and damaging," and said they did not reflect his views or those of the White House.
Earlier this year, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon was forced to apologize for calling Kerry "obsessive" and "messianic"--not in a public interview, but in a private conversation. Ya'alon believed Kerry's plan for Israeli territorial concessions to the Palestinians would severely compromise Israel's security.
This past week, the administration refused to set up meetings for Ya'alon with Kerry and Vice President Joe Biden while the minister was in the United States.
If the White House and Foggy Bottom aren't held to account for their practice of benign neglect of the world's most dangerous regimes at the expense of Israel, this nation and all of its allies can expect to pay a much steeper price in chaos and disruption.
A few House and Senate Democrats, along with Republicans, have shown courage in raising questions about blanket U.S. funding of Palestinian and U.N. projects that almost certainly have terrorist connections, and about insisting on guarantees that the Obama team allow Congress to have a say in any nuclear deal with Iran.
They would do well to sound the alarm. It is virtually certain that what is happening in Tehran, Jerusalem, and Washington will move quickly up the priority list on the national agenda--and perhaps soon.
At that time, the question of whether our leaders can discern between friend and adversary could become a matter of life and death for many people.

GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE

Second Most Sacred   By Anna Darlene Edmondson
“Behold, I have imprinted you on each of My hands.” (Isaiah 49:16 Amp)

When I consider God, our awesome creator, I’m reminded of just how much He adores you and me. Unbelievable! He’s a tripartite being which means---Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Likewise, we’re formed in three parts---body, soul, and spirit.
On top of that, from Him came everything, and everything that is, has been or ever shall be (Colossians 1:17). According to Andrew Wilson, author of GOD*STORIES, we’re the second-most sacred of all that lives.
“So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27 Amp) Moreover, Wilson states we have value not just for what we do but who we are as particular persons. Once we embrace the magnificence of ourselves, we look to Him for affirmation and away from our imperfections.

Let’s remember we’re not accidents nor numbers but individuals unlike anyone else. Additionally, every person is a rare entity. God loves us the way we are, and He alone understands the tiny details of why we are that way.
Perhaps a more intense relationship with the Lord will begin when we realize He loves us personally, individually, and unconditionally, not universally. He’s a warm intimate Father who wants a personal relationship and that’s why He fearfully and wonderfully made us (Psalm 139:13).
Here’s the thing: we’re priceless and loved beyond our comprehension. I know it’s hard to believe and even more awkward to accept. Still, that’s exactly what God declares and proved when He sent His Son to die in our place. May we grasp this impossible truth and hang on for dear life.
My comments: While all the above is true, Only those who love Christ Jesus with all their heart, mind, soul and strength ,belong to Him. And if we love Him, then, we obey His Commands. (John 14:15; 23)

AFTER ELECTION DAY, THE TEST OF AMERICA'S SOUL BEGINS

LOYAL TO LIBERTY

AFTER ELECTION DAY, THE TEST OF AMERICA'S SOUL BEGINS

Exclusive: Alan Keyes explains 'God's predisposition of human will toward justice'

As we approach Election Day, I pray that Americans of goodwill will find some way to rise above the tendency of our present corrupt political process, which seeks to focus voters narrowly on issues and personalities and away from the general crisis of liberty that at present threatens our nation’s future.

This morning I read an excerpt from an essay entitled “America’s Lost Sense of community” by L. Scott Smith. Its author criticizes the notion (which he disingenuously puts into the mouth of Cokie Roberts, as if the idea never occurred to generations of American leaders) that Americans “have nothing binding us together as a nation – no common ethnicity, history, religion or even language … except the Constitution and the institutions it created.”
Though I agree, to some extent with the author’s criticism, the argument he makes for it suffers from his willingness to accept the parameters of community Cokie Roberts alludes to. He sees the basis for America’s communal identity in our “scheme of government, including a declaration of rights” that is “a reflection of a people’s traditions, habits, mores and customs, and arises from deep within their very soul.”
Despite the reference to depth, however, there is a certain shallowness about this analysis that results from the pretense that the Constitution can be understood without reference to the logic and principles of the Declaration of Independence.

The Declaration speaks for the community of all people of goodwill in the United States, i.e., those committed to the exercise of “right as God gives them to see the right.” As is clear in the Declaration, Americans are bound together by their acceptance of God-endowed right; their commitment to implement (carry into action) the understanding of what is just informed by God’s goodwill for human nature.
This is not about “democracy.” It is about government predicated upon fundamental truths that begin with respect for God’s predisposition of human will toward justice (i.e., what is right). People willing to act on that predisposition form a community. In the American case, that community successfully endured the rigors of war to sustain that common will.
I think it’s clear that Americans today still share that commitment to justice, that predisposition to do what’s right and to stand unified against injustice, whether perpetrated against themselves of other human beings. In fact, it is this predisposition that makes Americans so vulnerable to specious appeals to “right” that disregard its connection with God-endowed justice.
Our present political process has utterly abandoned the proper understanding of the substance of right. Our political leaders have used the word “right” as if it is synonymous with unbridled freedom, what was known to the founding generation as “licentiousness.” This many of them do purposely, knowing that this corrupt understanding will produce a result that makes tyranny (whether democratic, elitist or despotic in character) inevitable.
Americans are still disposed to follow the law of God written on their hearts. This is why the most successful plot lines in our popular culture are still predicated on the battle between good and evil, with heroines and heroes who end up fighting for good. Tragically, the people who should make it their vocation to educate and inform this disposition are instead busily engaged in a course of deceit intended to betray Americans into evil and injustice.
The American community endures precisely because God’s goodwill for justice transcends habits, customs and traditions. In every generation, people will arise to call the nation back to that transcendent understanding of right and rights, to call Americans back to true liberty. This is the imperative of our time, at least for people who truly wish to restore and conserve the distinctive hope America is supposed to represent for all humankind.
At present, America’s political process is in the grip of people who cast aside this imperative. The only freedom they care about is their own freedom of action, the natural preoccupation of those bent on exercising power unlimited by anything except force. This is the disposition of ambition and the will to power, with which they are replacing the disposition to value freedom for the sake of justice.
On account of this disposition they are in fact willing to disparage, violate and tyrannize over conscience if that serves their ambition for power. So, in the name of specious “rights” they have begun to abuse the force of law in order to force people to attack the God-endowed rights of the natural family as well as the unalienable right to life.
Because neither of the major political parties has, any longer, any real allegiance to the Declaration’s logic and principles, votes cast next Tuesday will, in many instances, have little bearing on the moral/political crisis that is engulfing America’s liberty. I applaud all those who have joined in the pledge to impeach mobilization, thus showing their willingness to challenge the corruption in principle that is threatening to doom our way of life in decent freedom. No matter which party claims “victory” next Tuesday, America stands to lose, and go on losing unless and until the real ground of our nation’s moral identity is restored.
The effort to organize people for that restoration will, in the next two years, have to focus on the need to demand accountability for unconstitutional actions that are destroying our Constitution and liberty. For though the Constitution does not, in and of itself, produce our identity as a free people, preserving the integrity of its purpose will be the test of whether we still retain the character (i.e., the good qualities of soul and spirit) without which freedom escapes the bounds of true liberty and dies by suicide.

My comments: Chrsit Jesus said: I AM the Way, the Truth and the LIFE. He meant exactly what He said. He is the only Way, the only Truth and the only LIFE. Outside of His Way, His Truth and His LIFE, there is only FAILURE! Why is America FAILING? Because she IGNORES  this REALITY.

Chrsit Jesus is Almighty God, Who knows the End of the story of mankind upon the earth and has told mankind what that End is. Who believes Him?

THE CHURCH IN EUROPE AND AMERICA IN SHAMBLES

BETWEEN THE LINES

HOW THE REFORMATION FAILED

Exclusive: Joseph Farah marks anniversary of event with challenge to Luther, Calvin

It was on Oct. 31, 1517, that Martin Luther wrote to the archbishop of Mainz protesting the sale of indulgences, enclosing a copy of his “Disputation of Martin Luther on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences,” which came to be known as the 95 Theses.

By some historical accounts, it was also the day Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Church of All Saints in Wittenberg.
His acts ignited what has become known as the Protestant Reformation, which is acknowledged even by Rome today with major positive contributions to the direction of Christianity.
Yet, with some notable exceptions, the state of the church today, especially in Europe and America, is in shambles.
What could account for that? Where is the spiritual blessing that should be expected from such reforms? How did the Reformation fall short? Is it time for a New Reformation?
Those are questions raised in a new book by Derek Frank and his wife, Francoise, called “Escaping the Great Deception.” Their thesis is attractively simple and direct: While Luther and John Calvin helped bring the Word of God to ordinary people, their Reformation included one stunning omission – a failure to reform Christianity’s warped view of their spiritual brethren, the Jews.
For more than a thousand years, the so-called “church fathers” took the position that the church had replaced the Jews as the “chosen people” and the children of promise. With that doctrine came an ugly and vicious anti-Semitism that demonized the Jews.
  • Hilary, bishop of Poitiers, contended in the fourth century: “The Jews are a people who glorified iniquity.”
  • Jerome professed in the fourth century: “There could never be expiation for the Jews: God has always hated them.”
  • Bishop John Chrysostom in the fourth century published a series of sermons that included the following blood libel: “Because God hates the Jews, it is the duty of Christians to hate them.”
  • Ambrose, bishop of Milan, said: “I declare that I have set fire to the synagogue, or at least that those who did acted under my orders, so that there would be no place where Christ is rejected. … Moreover, the synagogue was in fact destroyed by the judgment of God.”
  • Even the venerated Augustine of Hippo joined the chorus: “The Jews were sons of God, but now they are sons of Satan. The true image of the Hebrews is Judas Iscariot, who sells the Lord for silver. The Jew can never understand the scriptures and will forever bear the guilt of Jesus.”
When Luther arose to challenge the traditions of the church, he initially had a more benevolent attitude toward the Jews, denouncing the church’s demonization of them: “They have dealt with the Jews as though they were dogs and not human beings. They have done nothing for them but curse them and seize their wealth. I would advise and beg everybody to deal kindly with the Jews and instruct them in the scriptures. In such a case, we could expect them to come over to us. … We must receive them kindly and allow them to compete with us in earning a livelihood … and if some remain obstinate, what of it?”
For this, he was called by the Vatican a “half Jew.”
In turn, Luther proclaimed, “They, the Jews, are blood brothers of our Lord. If it were proper to boast of flesh and blood, the Jews belong to Christ more than we. I beg, therefore, my dear papists, if you become tired of abusing me as a heretic, that you begin to revile me as a Jew.”
Later in life, however, Luther turned against the Jews with a passion. In a 65,000-word treatise “On the Jews and Their Lies,” he wrote: “Burn their synagogues and schools; what will not burb, bury it with earth that neither stone nor rubbish remain. In like manner break into and destroy their homes. Take away their prayer book and Talmuds. For in them there is nothing but godlessness, lies, cursing, and swearing. Forbid their rabbis to teach, pain of life or limb.”
After Luther’s death, when Calvin declared Geneva a city of refuge for Protestants, Jews were noticeably unwelcome.
Calvin wrote: “I have had much conversation with many Jews: I have never seen either a drop of piety or a grain of truth or ingenuousness – nay, I have never found common sense in any Jew.”
He ranted that the Jews’ “rotten and unbending stiff-neckedness deserves that they be oppressed unendingly and without measure or end and that they die in their misery without the pity of anyone.”
Could it be the fundamental failing of the Reformation was spreading a replacement theology that held that the covenantal promises of God to the children of Israel had been transferred to the church?
It’s a worthy question to ponder and pray about for all Christians – especially given the Jews, despite all odds and persecutions, are still here. Not only are they still here, they rather miraculously have their own country and homeland, again – just as the Bible predicted would take place in the last days prior to the coming of the conquering Messiah.
Was there much good that came from the Reformation? Without a doubt. But did it offer a completely scriptural new vision of salvation for gentiles who could be, as Paul explained, “grafted in” to the promises to the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? No, it fundamentally failed.
But there is a spiritual move arising today to counter the effects of that failure.
Maybe it’s a much-needed second reformation.

My comments: The Church today is in a shambles because it does not BELIEVE! The Church does not BELIEVE as the Church in the time of Christ did not BELIEVE. Today, the scriptures are diligently studied by many, but this does not produce REVELATION, just as the Church in the time of Christ failed to recognize their Messiah. Yes, many missed God's intentions for Israel, stated clearly in Scripture, that can be seen more clearly today with Israel having returned to the land God had given them just as Scripture said they would.

Why did the Church in the day of Christ miss His coming to them? Because they had formulated a man-made Religion just as they have today. Will Chrsit Jesus find Faith on earth at His Return [Luke 18:8]? Not much! Today, the Church is a man-made Religion that has accommodated itself to the Culture that surrounds it--a Culture that is the Enemy of God [James 4:4].

WND EXCLUSIVE

AGAIN! STUDY DEMANDS WARNINGS ON ABORTION-BREAST CANCER LINK

Horrifying statistics on risk factors for girls and young women

Bob Unruh

For the second time in just months, a major study is ringing alarm bells not just about the connection between abortion and birth-control pills and breast cancer, one of the biggest killers of women in the U.S., but over the fact patients are not being adequately warned about the dangers they face in making those “choices.”
It was a study in the Linacre Quarterly by experts from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Catholic Social Services in Lincoln, Nebraska, the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill that said informed consent is becoming a major issue.
“Research studies document a compounding of breast cancer risk factors for girls and young women that underscores the duty for full and accurate informed consent,” the study states, citing the horrifying statistics that have been revealed.
“A history of abortion before 8 weeks gestation in women younger than 18 years (girls) increased the risk of breast cancer by 30 percent. However, if a pregnancy lasting more than 8 weeks was terminated when a girl was younger than 18 years, the risk increased 800 percent,” the study said.
And it gets even worse.
“In women with a positive family history (defined as a sister, mother, aunt or grandmother with breast cancer), the overall risk was 1.8 (80 percent increased, but ‘was particularly strong for a first abortion that occurred prior to age 18 years.’ In fact, the risk was infinity, as breast cancer developed in 100 percent of these girls – 12 of 12 cases, but in none of the controls,” the study said.
Regarding birth control?
“The World Health Organization raised the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classification of [oral contraceptives] from ‘possibly’ carcinogenic (IARC 1999) to a Group 1, or highest carcinogenic risk category. The agency concluded, ‘After examining all of the evidence, the Working Group classified combined oral contraceptives as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1).’ Furthermore, the same Group 1 classification was made for ‘combined estrogen-progestagen hormone therapy,” it said.
The study paints a bleak picture of the situation:
“Many reports from the United States and other Western countries have … linked induced abortion (IA) to breast cancer (the abortion-breast cancer (ABC) link). Recently, there has been a surge in the number of reports from multiple, non-Western nations, associating abortion with breast cancer. Consequently, there is now sufficient evidence to conclude that IA is causally linked to breast cancer.”
It continued, “There is also evidence of a compounding of breast cancer risk factors in girls and young women … Recent epidemiological research found a large increase in this malignancy in young women that is metastatic (to bone, brain and lungs) at the time of diagnosis. This ominous development has ‘no recommended screening practice’ and a dismal prognosis …”
And how about warnings?
“This sobering trend mandates the need for disclosure of breast cancer risk factors. A medical, legal and ethical duty for full and accurate informed consent exists for all females. This is especially imperative for a girl (with her parent or guardian), or a young woman, who is considering the choice of an oral contraceptive …” the study said.
WND multiple times has reported on the concerns that having an abortion increases a women’s risk of breast cancer, including when a meta-analysis found that a single abortion raised the risk of breast cancer for a woman by an astonishing 44 percent.
It was professor Joel Brind, a science adviser for the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, who called the finding at that time a “real game-changer” in the controversy over the link between abortion and breast cancer.
Karen Malec of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer said the study’s finding explains that the cell tissue of a breast changes during the course of a pregnancy, and actually the danger of being turned cancerous increases substantially during the early portion of the time frame.
Protection against cancer develops, however, when a pregnancy is full term, experts note.
“It’s despicable that U.S. cancer groups and Planned Parenthood continue to deceive women about the ABC link and downplay the breast cancer risk associated with the pill,” Malec said.
In fact, she quoted from the authors of the study, who said, “The prescribing of a known carcinogen to a child for any non-lethal disease is problematic. Such a practice without the provision of full and accurate informed consent for the girl, and at least one parent or guardian, is medically, legally and ethically indefensible.”
The cost to society is high, the study said, with a pandemic-type toll of 641,000 breast cancer cases worldwide in 1980 surging to 1.64 million in 2010.
“More than 40 years ago, physician, ‘founder of modern epidemiology,’ and pioneer breast cancer researcher – Prof. Brian MacMahon – wrote almost prophetically, ‘One of the most important contributions of epidemiology to the fight against cancer has been the demonstration that many of the prevalent forms of human cancer are preventable,’” the study concluded.
“To a large extent, the breast cancer epidemic is due to preventable factors. Modern epidemiology provides substantial evidence that a delay (or avoidance) of childbearing, as well as a reduced duration (or avoidance) of breast-feeding, increase the risk of breast cancer through a loss of natural protections.”
Another paper released only months earlier said, “Women also need the opportunity for informed consent when choosing a surgical procedure that will elevate breast cancer risk, a leading cause of cancer death in women. Women who choose induced abortion should be made aware of their increased risk, so that they can be deliberately screened at an appropriate time and through early detection find more curable cancers.”
That comes from Dr. Angela E. Lanfranchi and Dr. Patrick Fagan, who hail from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and the Marriage and Religion Research Institute, respectively.
Malek noted that the authors of the first study, which included A. Patrick Schneider, Christine M. Zainer, Christopher Kevin Kubat, Nancy K. Mullen and Ambergly K. Windisch, outline the expectation for a “breast cancer pandemic due to induced abortion, use of contraceptive/abortifacient steroids and … oral contraceptives.”
She said the advocacy for abortion and birth control pills is “The real war on women.”
WND’s earlier reporting explained how an analysis by Yubei Huang, published in the peer-reviewed journal Cancer Causes and Control, looked at 36 studies that have been done in China regarding the risk of developing breast cancer for women who have had at least one induced abortion.
The risk rocketed 44 percent, Huang found, after one abortion. After two, the risk rose to 76 percent. After three, it climbed to 89 percent.
Dr. Jane Orient, a spokeswoman for the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, told WND at the time it is outrageous that American health care providers are not more aggressive and deliberate in warning women of the risk of a fatal cancer if they choose to abort.
“Women do want to know,” she said. “The abortion interests do not want them to know this. The medical establishment has been behind the effort to conceal it [the link].”
Reggie Littlejohn, whose organization Womens Rights Without Frontiers focuses on China’s forced-abortion policy, said at the time the warning to women around the world is clear.
“Obviously this does not simply apply to Chinese women, but to all women,” she said. “When we’re talking about informed consent in the U.S., women need to be informed of the very strong link between abortion and breast cancer
