The Power of Negative Thinking
Toni Babcock
Negative thinking can play a powerful and destructive role in our spiritual experience. It must be overcome by faith. When Moses stood at the parting of the Red Sea, the Hebrews began to complain and murmur while the Egyptians were gaining ground in hot pursuit.
Four hundred years they suffered as bond slaves in a foreign land. Now at the shores of freedom, they were tempted to give up, turn back, and cast their confidence away.
Life suddenly seemed easier being a miserable slave. In spite of all God had accomplished in their deliverance, they were ready to call it quits and go back - then came the command from Moses to stand still.
"Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you this day. For the Egyptians whom ye have seen this day, ye shall see them again no more forever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." (Exodus 14:13-14)
Miraculously, God made a way for them to cross the Red Sea.
God has made a way for us too - a way to leave the old life behind and follow Jesus. Claim the power of faith in God to overcome all negative thinking and
"Stand still and see the salvation of God."
