Sufficiency for Living
Robert Schaetzle
And he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in your weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
Paul shared with those in Corinth about his thorn in the flesh and wanted them, and us, to walk in faith, understanding that our Father knows us better than we know ourselves. In Him, our purpose, hope, and fulfillment for life come through Him, not our own resources.
Changing exterior circumstances and making problems go away is not always the solution. I realized this in my own life, dealing with paralysis in my right arm and hand from birth. Like Paul, I wanted things to change, but God just kept pointing me to His grace and peace that overcomes all circumstances.
Maybe you feel like you are stumbling through your day because of some physical concern, emotional unrest or reoccurring sin and you want change right now, but God keeps pointing you to His grace and peace.
It is when you take a firm hold of His outstretched hand and wholly throw yourself upon His care that you will experience His great love for you as you are right now. In His love is the strength to move mountains, made perfect in your weakness.
We can trust that God who created us and knew us before we were born, will be our sufficiency in every circumstance.
“My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” Psalm 139: 15-16
He will provide.
