Minnesota Sen. Al Franken on Thursday was accused of groping a broadcaster during a 2006 trip to Afghanistan to entertain the troops.
Leeann Tweeden, now a morning news anchor on TalkRadio 790 KABC in Los Angeles, detailed a vivid description of inappropriate behavior from Mr. Franken during a USO tour in December of 2006 in a post on her news outlet’s website.
Mr. Franken was not serving in the Senate at this time, but had previously worked on “Saturday Night Live” as a comedic writer and performer.
She claims Mr. Franken had written a sketch for the two to perform, which included a kiss. She says Mr. Franken insisted on “practicing” the kiss and eventually forced himself on her. She said she pushed him away and tried to avoid him for the remainder of their time together.

Ms. Tweeden wrote that when she was going through photos of the tour, she found a picture of Mr. Franken grabbing her chest while she slept. The photo is also featured in her post.
“You knew exactly what you were doing. You forcibly kissed me without my consent, grabbed my breasts while I was sleeping and had someone take a photo of you doing it, knowing I would see it later, and be ashamed,” Ms. Tweeden writes.
Mr. Franken released a statement saying he didn’t remember the skit as Ms. Tweeden describes.
“I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann. As to the photo, it was clearly intended to be funny but wasn’t. I shouldn’t have done it,” Mr. Franken said in the statement.
