You Won’t Believe Who Is Behind New Law That Takes Away 1 Of Your Most Important Constitutional Rights

If we do not embrace or fight for our rights, they will be taken away.

Almost on a daily basis we learn of lawmakers who try to pass laws that erode or outright deny us our Constitutional rights. Most of the time, they are Socialist-leaning democrats.

But you might be shocked to learn that a republican is backing a new state law, one that attacks a sacred right.

Oregon lawmakers have passed a new bill allowing the government to seize firearms and concealed carry permits. The legislation has now passed the House and Senate.

Citizens can now be forced to hand over their firearms via an “Extreme Risk and Protection Order.” To make the bill even more unconstitutional, the legislation allows an ex parte ruling, so the hearing for your gun confiscation will happen without you present.

Based on a California law enacted in 2014, SB 719A would create a so-called “Extreme Risk Protection Order” (ERPO) that could be obtained by a law enforcement officer, family member, or household member in an ex parte hearing to deprive someone of their Second Amendment rights without due process of the law…

The co-founder of the bill, Sen. Brian Roquist (R-Dallas), who claims the bill is not confiscation, contradicts himself in the language of the bill.

Now, they don’t go into detail about how a citizen can even use this law. Just because a neighbor doesn’t like you, does not mean they have legal recourse to take away your guns.

It is bad, though, that this law doesn’t require the defendant to appear in court. That is clearly an attempt to undermine a citizen’s Second Amendment rights and other rights that ensure they can defend themselves before a judge.

There is hope. If this law is as bad as the above article claims, it will have a hard time surviving in the long run. Second Amendment advocates in Oregon and across the country can easily challenge it, proving that it violates our rights. No doubt it can be shot down in a court of law.

But it is a reminder that lawmakers don’t always have your best interests at heart. And even so-called “conservative” leaders often care more about themselves and lobbyists, than the rights of the people.

If we do not fight, we lose everything we believe in.
