3 nations condemned for protecting borders, fighting crime

WASHINGTON – The European Commission has launched a process that could result in huge fines against Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic for refusing to comply with an order to admit foreign “refugees.”

The three states could be brought to the European Court of Justice in the case.

Under a 2015 council decision on relocation, every country in the European Union is required to relocate a certain amount of migrants every three months.

The BBC quoted Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos saying the three countries had ignored “repeated calls” from the EU’s executive to take their share.

Hungary has not relocated any migrants under the plan, while Poland has not relocated anyone since December 2015. The Czech Republic has not relocated anyone since August 2016.

Hungary and the Czech Republic initially voted against refugee quotas, while Poland only recently rejected the measure after the rise of the new Eurosceptic administration led by the nationalist Law and Justice Party (PiS).

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło stands committed against refugee quotas, telling reporters, “There is no chance that refugees could be received in Poland at the moment and we certainly will not accept the imposition on Poland or other member states of any kind of mandatory quotas.”

Polish interior minister Mariusz Błaszczak echoed this sentiment, noting that allowing migrants into the country poses a clear security risk.

“Let us remember the terrorist attacks, which are a fact in the larger states of the European Union, unfortunately,” he said.

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka stressed the security concerns of migrant resettlement as well, stating that the Czech Republic would not resettle migrants due to “the worsened security situation in Europe and dysfunctionality of the quota system.”

There is no recent history of terrorism in Poland, Hungary, or the Czech Republic, according to travel advice from the U.K. government.

In addition, Poland continues to be one of the safest countries in Europe, according to the United States Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security (OSAC).

Paul Nehlen, author of “Wage the Battle” and director of “Hijrah: Radical Islam’s Global Invasion,” talked to WND about his own experience in the U.K.

“For two and a half years, I had a flat in a posh area of London (SW1) and was in Poland 40-50 percent of my time while in charge of Europe, Middle East, and Africa for Fortune 500 SPX Corporation,” Nehlen said.

“The riots of 2011 in London were at my doorstep and at that time you could sense the Hijrah, migration in the name of Allah, taking hold of sections of London. Even that far back, Poland was safe relative to the U.K.”

In Hungary, the overall crime rate for 2016 decreased compared to 2015 in all major crime categories except homicide. OSAC also notes that in the Czech Republic, “violent or confrontational crime is rare.”

Many countries that have accepted migrants, however, continue to face increasing crime rates.

In Germany, all non-Germans make up about 10 percent of the overall population of the country. And yet, they accounted for 30.5 percent of all crime suspects in 2016.

Refugees specifically make up 2 percent of the German population, but accounted for 8.6 percent of all crime suspects.

According to statistics compiled by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the number of migrant crime suspects in 2016 increased by an alarming 52.7 percent. The number of migrants living in Germany only increased by 11 percent in the same time period.

In France, the number of tourists has decreased heavily as the safety of visitors is threatened.

“For a number of Chinese tourists, the dream of visiting France and Paris has turned into a nightmare,” said Jean-François Zhou, president of the Chinese Association of Travel Agencies in France. “In high season, not a day goes by without tourists being assaulted.”

On Tuesday, France sent at least 150 riot police to the Calais migrant camp after armed migrants set up burning road blocks to stop and then stow away on British-bound trucks.

“As the weather gets warmer, there will be more of this,” a police source told the Daily Mail.

In footage of the scene, migrants can be seen waving clubs and sticks at truck drivers as debris burns around them.

The number of migrants granted refugee status in France increased by 20 percent from 2015 to 2016, with the vast majority of these migrants coming from Afghanistan or Sudan.
