You've signed our petition, and your voice will be heard! But we need to counter and overwhelm the Left's effort that is declaring that people of faith need not apply for government positions.
Another way you can help is to call your Senators and urge them to reject Senator Bernie Sanders' (I-Vt.) reverse religious test for public servants! The recent hearing on the nomination of Russell Vought to be Deputy Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget ("OMB") raised serious questions regarding religious tests for public servants.
Senator Sanders attacked Vought in his opening statement and continued when he questioned Vought, bringing up an article Vought wrote defending Wheaton College for upholding the centrality of Jesus Christ to salvation, a basic tenet of Christian theology.
Senator Sanders' questions were unrelated to whether Vought believed that people who did not share his beliefs should receive federal monies, or would otherwise be affected by Vought's service at OMB,
but simply focused on disqualifying Vought because he publicly stated his Christian beliefs that only those who believe on Jesus Christ will be saved as the Bible makes clear.
In fact, Vought responded by sharing, "I believe that all individuals are made in the image of God and are worthy of dignity and respect, regardless of their religious beliefs." Nevertheless, Sanders said he will vote against the confirmation of Russell Vought stating, he is "not someone who is what this country is supposed to be about."
Senator Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) followed Senator Sanders in questioning Vought and was so alarmed by the questioning that he began by addressing his colleagues on the Senate Committee, hoping they "are not questioning the faith of others and how they interpret their faith," and by thanking Vought for his willingness to serve. However,
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) followed Senator Gardner by raising the same article that Senator Sanders raised and by essentially questioning
whether it is possible for a Christian to "uphold the public trust for the whole country."
It was an alarming and appalling exchange, to have the doctrinal tenets of a nominee debated in a Senate confirmation hearing.
In fact, it caused many attorneys to turn back to their Constitutional Law books to discuss whether this was an indication that Senators Sanders and Van Hollen were imposing a religious litmus test for public service, which Article VI of the Constitution strictly prohibits.
In light of Senator Sanders' line of questions, we urge you to call your two U.S. Senators at (202) 224-3121, or email them at the link below, and ask them to refuse to impose a religious litmus test for Mr. Vought's service and, to vote to confirm Russell Vought.

My comments: What is extremely Ironic about this discussion is that the Religion of the Democrats, godless, Socialist, Secular Humanism, is Antithetical to the U.S. as Founded and her Constitution. Also, the False and Evil Religion of Islam, is Antithetical to the U.S. as Founded and her Constitution.
