Dartmouth Announces Linda Sarsour Lecture, Days After Refusing to Co-Sponsor Event Featuring Disabled Israeli Soldier
Colleges have declared for the enemy in the all-out war on truth and freedom. Why are American taxpayers forced to fund these hotbeds of anti-Americanism and antisemitism?
The pro-Israel community at Dartmouth College is still reeling following a decision by school leadership to appoint as their new head of faculty a leading supporter of the movement to boycott Israel and Jewish academics.
Dartmouth College announced Wednesday evening that it will be hosting a lecture by virulently anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour, days after an office at the school declined to co-sponsor an event featuring a veteran of the Israel Defense Forces.
This, in the wake of the outrage that CUNY invited Sarsour to keynote their commencement ceremony. This is what the left does. No matter how wrong and evil, they hunker down. We never see this on the right. They don’t stand by their people, they run.
Stand up against the norming of evil. Join us in our protest against hatemonger Linda Sarsour on May 25th. RSVP here. Speakers include:
- Milo Yiannopoulos, free speech activist, “the most fabulous supervillain on the internet.”
- Assemblyman Dov Hikind, 48th Assembly District
- John Guandolo, Counter-Terror Expert, Founder of UnderstandingTheThreat.com.
- ‘Lauri B. Regan, Endowment for Middle East Truth and National Women’s Committee of the Republican Jewish Coalition
- David Wood, Acts 17 Apologetics
Antisemitic bigot Sarsour is an outspoken critic of Israel who furiously supports the Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions (BDS) movement, a Hamas-inspired initiative that uses various forms of public protest, economic pressure, and lawsuits to advance the Hamas agenda of permanently destroying Israel as a Jewish nation-state.
Vis-a-vis the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict, Sarsour favors a one-state solution where an Arab majority and a Jewish minority would live together within the borders of a single country. In October 2012 she tweeted that “nothing is creepier than Zionism.”
In 2004, Sarsour acknowledged that a friend of hers, as well as a cousin, were both serving long sentences in Israeli jails because of their efforts to recruit jihadists to murder Jews. Moreover, she revealed that her brother-in-law was serving a 12-year prison term because of his affiliation with Hamas.
In October 2011, Linda Sarsour, who holds free-market economics in low regard, expressed, on behalf of “Muslim New Yorkers,” “solidarity and support” for the pro-communist Occupy Wall Street movement. In 2011 as well, the Obama Administration honored Sarsour as a “champion of change.” Not surprisingly, Sarsour visited the White House on at least seven different occasions during Obama’s tenure.
In May 2012 Sarsour tweeted that the so-called “underwear bomber,” an Al-Qaeda operative who in 2009 had tried to blow up a Detroit-bound passenger jet in mid-flight, was actually a CIA agent participating in America’s “war on Islam.”
In November 2012 in Baltimore, Sarsour—ever eager to peddle her woeful tale of Islamic victimhood—spoke at a Muslim Public Affairs Council conference titled “Facing Race: Xenophobic Hate Crimes.” This is the same Council that views the murderous Jew-haters of Hezbollah as members of “a liberation movement” that is “fighting for freedom.”
Sarsour was outraged when a police officer and an FBI agent shot and killed a young black Muslim named Usaama Rahim in Boston on June 2, 2015, when Rahim lunged at them with a military-style knife as they attempted to question him about suspected terrorism-related activities. Naturally, Sarsour’s assessment of the incident confidently traced everything back to race: “At the end of the day, a Black man was shot on a bus stop on his way to work and we should treat this like any other case of police violence.”
In August 2015 Sarsour spoke out in support of the incarcerated Palestinian Islamic Jihad member Muhammad Allan, a known recruiter of suicide bombers.
According to CounterJihad.com, Sarsour has attended and spoken at numerous rallies sponsored by Al-Awda, a group that views Israel as a terrorist, genocidal state whose very creation was a “catastrophe” for Arab peoples.
Sarsour has also solicited donations for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, which had worked with the Hamas-funding Holy Land Foundation.
There’s more. She also initially portrayed the killing of Shaima Alawadi by her husband as a racist-Islamophobic-anti-Muslim killing instead.
DARTMOUTH ANNOUNCES LINDA SARSOUR LECTURE, DAYS AFTER REFUSING TO CO-SPONSOR EVENT FEATURING ISRAELI SOLDIERAlgemeiner, May 11, 2017:Dartmouth College announced Wednesday evening that it will be hosting a lecture by virulently anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour, days after an office at the school declined to co-sponsor an event featuring a veteran of the Israel Defense Forces. The Sarsour event — to be held Friday evening in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month — is co-sponsored by the college’s Office of Pluralism and Leadership (OPAL) and Special Programs and Events Committee. According to a member of Dartmouth Students for Israel (DSI) — who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution by the administration — OPAL turned him down earlier this week when he approached them about co-hosting a program featuring Izzy Ezagui, the only soldier to ever return to battle after losing an arm in combat.DSI was told by an OPAL representative that the Ezagui lecture “sounds like a great event, but it is felt that it does not meet the mission of OPAL.” The representative then suggested “more appropriate places to reach out to” for assistance, including the Student Accessibility Services, which the DSI member said is “generally not an organization that does events.”On its website, OPAL describes its mission as “to foster a Dartmouth where all students can thrive, value difference, and contribute to the creation of a socially just world.”The Ezagui event will go forward — with the co-sponsorship of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America on Campus, as well as the Dartmouth Chabad and Hillel centers — but the DSI member said he has asked OPAL to “kindly explain in more detail why the event does not meet the OPAL mission?”In his follow-up email to OPAL, the DSI student wrote, “I looked at the OPAL mission prior to contacting the office and thought it was very compatible with a ‘comprehensive leadership development’ program, as well as representing historically under-represented groups (Izzy is a Jew, and is disabled, so both groups have been historically under represented at this college and nationally).”Sarsour — who will be speaking on “how home and a sense of belonging is sometimes the result of our own personal advocacy,” according to the program description on Facebook — has been condemned by Democratic New York state Assemblyman Dov Hikind as “someone who associates with radical Islamists” and as a “bigot” by former national director of the Anti-Defamation League, Abraham Foxman.Sandor Farkas, the president of DSI, told The Algemeiner that he and his friends are “outraged” by the Sarsour program, especially in “light of the recent controversy” surrounding a professor with ties to the campaign to boycott Israel who has been promoted to the consequential role of Dean of Faculty.“I think Dartmouth College has shown a remarkable disregard for the concerns of the Jewish community by inviting renowned BDS advocate and Israel-hater Linda Sarsour,” said Farkas, who will graduate this spring.“Over my four years at Dartmouth, I have always felt that our campus conversation around Israel was reasoned and respectful, with only an occasional exception,” he added. “While I want to believe that this coincidence [of two anti-Israel incidents in one week] is nothing more than administrative incompetence, OPAL’s refusal to co-sponsor an event with an Israeli speaker demonstrates otherwise. I am deeply saddened to graduate knowing that my Jewish friends on campus may face real hatred and discrimination, not only from other students, but from the highest levels of the college administration.”Farkas said pro-Israel students plan to “stage a silent protest during the [Sarsour] event, including flooding [her] with difficult questions.”Dartmouth’s announcement comes as the City University of New York (CUNY) has come under fire for inviting Sarsour to give the commencement speech at the graduation exercises for CUNY’s Graduate School of Public Health.Representatives for OPAL did not immediately respond to The Algemeiner‘s request for comment.
